| Re: New Model Fabia I agree... not impressed. But then it could be the colour & the picture that are unflattering. I guess I'll make up my mind when I see them in the flesh... Really hope it's an unflattering picture... |

From the other spy photos I've seen the car is quite clearly the same vehicle but other spy photos show it in black and with bigger wheels. On those photos you can clearly see more crease lines on the body which make it look much better. The yellow one looks to blobby. ![]() ![]() ![]()

| Briskodian | Re: New Model Fabia the one above looks like a sporty version...maybe the VRS? it's got a spoiler on the back and what looks like 16" alloys, but who knows. Then again, I would never have bought a standard fabia as they look a bit boring, so the first pics fit the bill, the sportier version is where the action and what i'll be looking at.

| Re: New Model Fabia Hmm, other than the new estate, the others certainly look fairly dull - especially the headlights and lack of sheet metal definition. I hope that in reality it looks better. Looks like a cross between and Subaru and a Suzuki - a little to Jap for me. |

| Re: New Model Fabia Lets get this all in perspective shall we. The current Fabia isnt a pretty car by any means, it can look good but it aint a great looking car. Skoda dont make pretty cars It serves a purpose and is 'affordable'. So if a few early glimpses of early production models upsets a few people it will only be the same reaction as Octavia 1 owners had when the first pics of the Octavia 2 came out, and the same reaction as MK4 Golf owners had when the MK5 came out. Both of which are now much admired. Give it a chance. |

| Briskodian | Re: New Model Fabia Seeing these pics eases my mind somwhat. I always had the niggle in the back of my mind re. the introduction of the new model when considering placing my order in the next few days First impressions count for a lot and as was the case for the Impreza when the bugeye took over from the classic I can't see that being as popular a car as the current Fabia. Granted, the comment "It serves a purpose and is 'affordable'" is by all means a valid one as most people buy an overall package but somewhere down the line the asthetics of the thing come in to it and the new one (from what I see there) doesn't do much to further the product. It may well come to live off the reputation of it's predecessor. Paul. |

| Re: New Model Fabia I agree with Lummox on this. Remember the Ford Escort launched around 1990, it was a disaster...plain looking and insipid. It was designed by asking people what they liked...a sure fire way of designing boring looking cars. Compare with the launch of the Ford Focus; most people thought they had gone stark raving mad but in time it has been a huge success. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that the fact that people dont like the look of the car is a good thing, it is new and people tend not to like change. But I bet a year down the line people will be posting on here saying they love it. Just my rambling thoughts. Dan |

| Re: New Model Fabia true, but the old one did just fine as do all Skodas models really, and like I said none of them are pretty. |

A little rally exposure and a fresh, well executed idea such as the vRS helps push things on too. It's all about comparison now and having seen what happened to the Impreza I wouldn't hold out too much hope for the new model. You may well find that the model will change again soon. Time will tell. | |

| Re: New Model Fabia Skoda Fabia has much better pictures. The estate definitely looks very Suzuki/Daihatsu to me. And they have confirmed the 1.4TSi motor as well. I'm not sure - I'll wait until I see it in the flesh. In any case, I'm not going to be ordering a new one until August 2009 anyway so I have plenty of time to make my mind up! |

There's a rumour that the 3 door won't happen now because of the Joyster but we will see...

| Briskodian | Re: New Model Fabia Have had my vRS now nearly 6 weeks and nearly clocked up 1,600 miles. And was thinking that I would very seriously have another Fabia when the new one comes out. But it reminds me of my very first Polo Hatchback. It's too long-barge like also not keen on the headlights. The wheels look ok though ![]() |

Now it's considered cutting edge (until the next comes along, of course). |
