Cat Vision for vRS - Anyone done it?

As above, does the elegance or L&K come with cat vision, anyone retro fitted it to a vRS. First winter approaching in the Octy with lot's of windy trips in the dark down to Cardiff and back so fancied having something like this in mine.

Just wondered if anyone had tried it before I set off for Maplins and get the soldering iron out

Looks like the same unit as the Fbai, so a search on that should bring something up. Good plan

See the red lights....

That's Cat Vision- it provides a glow into the whole cabin to allow you to see better (apparently). Fluffmeister - I don't believe it's standard on any UK Octy - I'm not even sure if it's available on any Octy. I think on the Passat you can simply swap out the non-LED equipped unit for an LED equipped unit, but if it's not available on any Octy it's definitely a soldering job (to be proper the LEDs should only be on when the headlights are on, which would be an impressive challenge if there's no switched supply up there....)

I was a non-believe until I drove a MK5 GTi with it - it really is very good indeed. Non-intrusive illumination that you dont notice unless you're looking for something in the illuminated area.

My Dad's done it on his Touran no problems, so should be do-able on the Octy.

Dont know if this is of use to anyone, but the Laguna I was driving recently had cat vision, and the unit looked the same size as the Skoda/VW ones.

Re: Cat Vision for vRS - Anyone done it?

About 2 years ago VW Driver magazine ran a whole "how to do it" about this, on the MKIV golf, including what pin to wire into behind the fuse box etc. Don't know what month it was, but an email to them should give an answer of some sort!

That's the guide my Dad used for his Touran... it was spot on. He also ordered the W8 unit from here;

sales@kool-vw.eclipse.co.uk

At tad cheaper than paying VW main dealer prices....
