Door locking/door open/Convenience ECU problems

There are more and more threads on here ralating to the Octavia's ability to tell if the front doors are open.

The number of people saying they have problems increases almost daily. It was suggested that the door lock itself had a faulty PCB with dry solder joints, however some people have replaced this unit and still have the problem. Often there are no fault codes.

The purpose of this thread is to see just how many have this problem - please complete the poll.

Re: Door locking/door open/Convenience ECU problems

I'm not sure if I have problems or not

In my previous (sep '01) vRS with anti-hijack enabled the open door indicator would always be off, unless the door was open. In my current (sep '02) vRS with anti-hijack enabled the open door indicator is on, regardless of the door position. But if you drive away and the anti-hijack kicks in, the indicator goes off again until you stop and remove the key from the ignition and the doors unlock again. It doesn't do this 100% of the time though, as sometimes it just does what my old one used to do...

Fixed now.

Central convenience unit & wiring loom replaced by dealer. All iis fine for now. I have also had both front window regulators replaced in the last couple of months. All of the above problems seem to have a common theme - corrosion due to water.

Was this done by the dealer free of charge as a gesture of goodwill?

Re: Door locking/door open/Convenience ECU problems

Just replaced rhf window motor & module (pins at connection corroded) also needed to replace wiring loom as connections were corroded. i was able to fit the parts myself but the bulk of the cost is parts anyway. Module / motor 330 euro + vat. wiring loom 125 euro + vat. However i got 2nd hand module in perfect condition for £50 stg. Replacing these parts fixed interior light not coming on when door open, 'lights on' buzzer not working, central locking not working, electric mirrors not orerating via ****.....si it was worth it

..... a bit of both really.

In Ireland, we only get a two year warranty, and my troubles began when the car was 4 months out of warranty. The dealer had a word with the distributors here, and the parts were supplied FOC, but I had to pay the dealer for labour + VAT.

Still an expenive problem, especially as I had recently spent a lot of cash on two new window regulators to be fitted.

Re: Door locking/door open/Convenience ECU problems

Like you, I'm out 4-5 months out of warranty. It's going into a Skoda dealer next week so I'll see what their response is. Your answers are appreciated.

Thanks
