| Iginition Starter Switch Partially Damage Guys, a week ago I place a post here that I my Aircon stop completly to work on my 2001 Skoda Octavia 1.6i. Here is that post: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/octav...nt-temp/63099/ Well after checking fuses and evething, I take the car to the Skoda dealer. The car spend there 4 days and when they return the car to me, the problem was the Ignition Starter Switch. Its look like one of the pins on the back of the starter switch was geting hot and with the time it melted the black plastic and this cover the contacts and does not allow to pass current. They put a new starter switch and a new female plug conector thats goes coencted to the back of the starter switch. Everything with parts and labor cost me US$150.00 They give me the damages parts and I decide to opened to check it out and I take some pics in order that if you have a similar problem with your ignition starter switch, you can fix it yourself very EASY. In my case I never imagine the damage was in the ignition switch if not I will repar it myself and save does $150.00 Check the pics here: http://s85.photobucket.com/albums/k57/Turbo_Boss/Skoda%20Ignition%20Switch/ Isaac

| Re: Iginition Starter Switch Partially Damage Guys, I am curious. My Octavia 1.6i 2001 is factory stock. The only thing that it have is a aftermarket head unit that was installed when I bouth the car. It has 37,000 kms on the odometer. Do any of you have an idea why this happened? Also, here is a pic of the back of the starter switch and the pin #50 and #30 was the ones getting overheated. Was exactly is powered by#50 pin??? I an pretty sure #30 is constant 12V+ ![]() Here are more pics: http://s85.photobucket.com/albums/k57/Turbo_Boss/Skoda%20Ignition%20Switch/ THX, Isaac
