My octy is written off :(

guys i have posted before about aerowipers and things in the past but last night my car got written off. i was passing another car and as i passed he turned right to go into a concelled enterance from the left hand side of the road and i hit the brakes and swerved hit a hedge and rolled over it. was very scary and was in a neck brace and everything but im ok just very sore but nothing broken or anything so she kept me alive. i have a witness who was behind me so i should be ok and police and everything were involved. deff will be stayin wit skoda or at least the vw group as im sure that helped me walk away. had to climb out of the back door any everything. also he wasnt indicating at all otherwise i would never have passed him

Really sorry to hear the news and hope it gets sorted quickly, but at the end of the day, its a lump of metal with four wheels and can be replaced, human life cannot.

I must say I've been very lucky,
I've always owned cars that have working indicators,
that are really simple to use.
I'm always amazed at how rare a feature these seem to be.

Good and bad news as everyone else has said. Sorry you've had the accident but you must be over the moon to walk away from that!

ESP won't save you going through hedges and flying over lumps/bumps/banks

glad you came out OK, whats really odd is the pics where the car is upside down it just looks like a car has been picked up and put on its roof, no visible damage

then we see the car upright again and the roof is FUBAR.

hope it gets sorted quickly and easily.

glad your ok mate. tbh i think you'd of been better hitting the idiot! maybe they would of learned about how important it is to use them.

i had a similar thing nearly happen to me where i was overtaking a car and a tractor as the car in front was showing no signs of overtaking so i indicated and left plenty of room then as i had pretty much past the car she decided to try and take the back of my car off only because i was paying attention did i ensure i had enough room to my right so that she didnt hit me!

Makes you wonder if people actually pay attention these days when driving!

Much better to make sure they've seen you (quick flash of the lights or beep of the horn) before you go for the overtake so that they won't turn across your path. Most people simply don't expect to be overtaken! Doesn't make it right, but I'd rather be alive than dead and right

i was told that i went along the top of the hedge and was almost stoped then rolld off the hedge into the fied. all sides were ok until they rolled it over then the wing mirror got wreckd. it was a saxo so if i hit that it would have been a lot worse for them. just very sore at min but not even a cut on me or anything. brillinat cars skodas

you did the right thing, if you'd of gone into the back of em they'd of had claim you were at fault, have you been back to check the road markings/ are you sure your in the clear (double white lines,no overtaking signs, hatching on the road for turning right?) id be in touch with a lawyer if i were you.

I may be very wrong and this is just a question, but in the eyes of insurance companies isnt overtaking and crashing the same as going into the back of someone? the one at fault is the one behind/overtaking????? or does the factor bout the indicator make the difference? anyway, glad your ok. shame the saxo driver got away so lightly!

also was lookin at wheels when i wnet to get my stereo out of it and they are damaged and dont have old ones was never given them when i bought car. i remember lookin at the roof and wonderin why my mats where on the roof then i relized i was upside down!

was a country road with no markins at all. i did everything right. they were over to the far left side brakin beside a row of houses so i slowed down indicated and pulled out as it was a straight road and totally clear and at day time. just as i was passin he did a right turn with no indicator. also the road he was going into was blind so i couldnt have known it was there. the only reason i knew he was turnoin as i saw his wheels turn full lock so i avoided as best i could yet my car took all the damage. he totally wasnt payin attention. just glad i have a witness who was behind me and saw it all
