  1. I have a Seat Mii S 3 door and can confirm (1) the driver's door being unlocked/locked does the boot too but not the passenger door. (2) the courtesy light does not operate in door mode when the passenger door is opened but does with driver door. Hope that helps. My experiences seem to align with yours. I have just swapped from a Superb and I love it. And at sub £4K for a 2.5 year 20k miles some seriously cheap motoring. Parking is a doddle compared with the superb!!
  2. Hyphons - many thanks for the link - very detailed and helpful. Much appreciated. I presume the process for Up, Mii and Citigo would be the same.
  3. Any advice anyone has on changing oil on a Citigo would be gratefully received. I've done a couple of my past cars but just bought one of these and thought I would give it a go. Looks like oil filter is low down on the front of the engine. Thanks
  4. I have a superb 1.4tsi. I get 40-45 mpg on each tank. Real world and measured at pump. Best ever on a 1 hour run 62!! 40-45mpg equates to 169 - 150 gco2/km Car logbook says 157g/km Looks spot on to me.
  5. If this becomes a mandatory recall and there is work done to introduce tech to exhaust, I would think those that have tampered with particulate filters could have a bill on their hands.
  6. When I wonder why I should have doubled the cost of my car going for an L&k v the S 1.4 I have, I must say an umbrella is not high on the list.
  7. Coasting. This term describes a vehicle travelling in neutral or with the clutch pressed down. It can reduce driver control because engine braking is eliminated vehicle speed downhill will increase quickly increased use of the footbrake can reduce its effectiveness steering response will be affected, particularly on bends and corners it may be more difficult to select the appropriate gear when needed. I'm wondering whether above extract from HWC is less relevant today. First two bullets about eliminating engine braking is irrelevant - we want the car to free wheel and if it picks up speed you apply brake. Third bullet about footbrake losing effectiveness - I had heard that advice these day is not to use engine braking rather you should use foot brake so this may go back to days when foot brakes were poor.
  8. I would support Too Tall's comments. I used a pressure washer on my previous car and thought I was removing flies on front bumper until I noticed more we're appearing and in fact they were dots of paint coming off revealing black plastic underneath. Also left large patches of laquer missing in paintwork. IMHO you are playing with fire using these on your car. Bit of elbow grease is the answer!
  9. I would second Silver 1011. I have owned a 1.4S twin door for 18 months (it was 2.5 years old when bought). I came from a diesel. This engine is great. Very quiet - my skids has been mistaken for an electric. It is lively and plenty of power for the car. Normal fuel is 40-45mpg. We have done a south of France trip with four bikes on roof and fully laden. No problem with engine other than fuel dropped to 32 mpg.
  10. Thanks for the post VC-10. I also have the 1.4 in s-spec and have been equally impressed with the performance and the equipment/interior quality. I would expect the fuel economy to improve on your numbers. I am getting 40-45 typically on my 10 plate. The only time I had poor economy was on a fully loaded run with four bikes on the roof when the economy dropped by 10mpg. To other members - I would be interested to learn about what can be done on my s-spec through VCDS. I would be keen to get auto wipers - is that simply a coding change? Many thanks again and all the best with the Superb.
  11. Thanks Chan and merry Christmas to you. Your thread is epic. I'm convinced one day it will be made in to a film by Hollywood! Keep up the good work in 2014.
  12. The Audi has played with your mind. Audrey only had a little scrape. Your superb is a lovely car - enjoy it for a while longer. Both your car and ray's will be competing against brand new pre face lift 170DSGs being offered here at the moment at £19s. I'm not sure I could justify paying 12+ against that price of new.
  13. Yes - all the best Ray. I remember your photos of your superb after a wash and polish - looked in great condition after 4 years so a lucky new owner. Do drop some snaps of your e-class when it arrives. That's going to be a beaut.
