  1. I had a letter from the Met Police with a Notice of Intended Prosecution stating I was doing 73 mph in a 30 mph area. It turns out my car's been cloned and the issue has been cancelled. The only place I've posted pictures is on this forum. Please be careful, unlike me, when showing the number plate of your car.
  2. Perfect, that's all the information I needed. Thanks so much for the help!
  3. That's great, thanks for the help. How would you go about winding them in with a spanner handle? I haven't seen the piston in person so I'm trying to picture how you would go about it? Also, is there anything I should be aware of when it comes to the handbrake? Do I need to somehow disconnect/disengage it, or is it literally exactly the same as the fronts, but to just wind in the pistons instead of pushing? Apologies for the amount of questions!
  4. I have a 2014 Octavia VRS TDI, the one with the 340mm front brakes. I need new discs and pads all round and have bought the discs and pads needed. I plan to fit them myself as Skoda want over £500, but as all of the parts only cost me £230, I'll do them myself from home. I have two questions though: Do the pistons on these calipers push in, or screw in?What do I have to do to disengage the hand brake to change the rear brakes? I was told a special tool was needed. I've only ever changed rear pads on cars that had drums inside the discs, so the handbrake wasn't an issue. But as the handbrake operates the calipers, what would I need to do? Many thanks
  5. I live on a very steep hill. When I open the front doors after its rained I do get water pouring onto the floor. It doesn't come into the car though. Is this the same problem you,re referring too?
  6. My VRS DSG Estate came with Continentals. Front tyres lasted 9,000 miles. I've tried Falcons but they offer no rim protection. The tyres I've settled on are Kumho's. In my opinion a very good tyre, good ratings and a lot better wearing than the Continentals.
  7. Well I've had my Octavia VRS Mk3 Estate DSG for three years now. It's just passed the its MOT with an advisory for the brake disks. (55,000 miles and original disks and pads isn't too bad I think). The service I've had from Sinclair Skoda Swansea has been excellent. The parts I've had replaced under warranty are as follows, New fog lamps x 2 (fogging in both lamps). New wheel (pitting on alloy) New Amundsen System (Kept turning off) New water pump (sensor needed replacing but comes as part of pump) Headlight washer (washer doesn't retract) Can anyone else do any better????????
  8. My Mk3 Octavia TDi VRS has recently developed a slight ticking noise at 1700 revs. Nothing before and nothing after the 1700 revs, I've done 50,000 and have every bit of service history. The main problem is that it doesn't happen all of the time. The dealer has said bring the car into the garage when it makes the noise. I've not been able to get the car there when this happens. My main concern is that the warranty expires in September and I'd like it fixed before it runs out. Has anyone else had this problem?
  9. Hell bent on a manual but having been persuaded to test drive an automatic (DSG) within two minutes of the test drive I was hooked. My car is has done 50,000 miles and I still love driving it. I would never buy a manual again. DSG every time. HOWEVER, after 40,000 miles the gearbox needs an oil and filter change. The cost is normally £180.00 although I had it done for £140.00 in Sinclair Skoda Swansea where I bought the car from.
  10. I still think my VRS is the best car on the road, but I may have been upstaged while at Silverstone last Saturday for the World Endurance Championship. What do you think?
  11. I've had the same problem, four times in total. Everything sound-wise works except the screen (I took a video on my phone to prove it). I'm having my 30,000 service tomorrow and told the dealer about this problem. They said that it could require a software update, but if not they,ll change the unit. It sounded to me as if they've experienced this problem before. I'll keep you posted.
  12. Perhaps we could have some pictures of the dirtiest cars. This one's a good start.
  13. Have a look at this. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/296662-post-your-mk3-octavia-photos/
  14. Having previously give Sinclair Skoda Swansea a good positive comment I now have to give them a poor comment for customer service. (The positive comment was for sales service). I had my Mk 3 VRS Serviced on Thursday 25th September (20,000 miles), as usual good service and courtesy car supplied. Monday 29th I have a fluid leak under the car. A quick phone call I thought at 4pm to their service department would sort any problem out. I'm told by a pleasant young lady on the phone that there was only one person dealing with service and parts and that I would get a call back as soon as possible, but before the garage closes. She did say however that this single person hadn't replied to any of the mornings calls and I could always take advantage of the recovery service. (Not the answer I was looking for) A main dealer and only one person on duty???? I did notice that there were loads of sales people on duty. After close of business on Tuesday I'm still waiting for the promised return call. Perhaps I'm not spending well in excess of £20,000 and I'm not as important anymore. I understand that people are busy but don't promise a call if you've no intention of making it.
