  1. Has anyone wrapped the trim in the door cards on an L&K spec car at all?
  2. Been searching for a while now on web and can't seem to find info I need! Need to top oil up in wife's 1.9 Octavia tomorrow, just thought it would be useful to know just how much oil from minimum to maximum on the dipstick so I know how much I might need to add should it be low! I know on dipstick on my Astra and in manual it says 1L from min to max but can't find anything in the Octavia manual to help. If anyone can help would greatly appreciate it.
  3. Sorry to bump an old thread, but the pictures don't seem to be showing. Does anyone have a how to on removing the centre console/dash trims for wrapping at all?
  4. We are glad it was sorted so quickly, one garage we would usually use in town said he couldn't get it in for 2 weeks! Guy who fixed it is a young lad who's recently opened his own garage in town, heard a few people say they wouldn't trust him, but then surely how can you not trust someone if they haven't done any work for you! Will definitely go back to this guy in future with our cars, seems the only thing he can't do is MOTs!
  5. Car is now back home and fixed, found a garage in town who fixed a similar problem before and knew exactly what it was when we explained it to them, they came and got the car first thing, it was back by just after lunch, £30 later Thanks for all the help and advice here guys!
  6. If I'm entirely honest I'm not confident with doing the work myself, if I did I wouldn't have the time to either, I work 5 long days during week so weekends is my only chance, car needs to be back on road in the next few days to be honest, the other half needs her independence!
  7. Thanks for the quick reply, fills me with a bit more confidence that it's a relatively cheap repair compared to a new clutch or gearbox! I've looked at the snapped parts and they look the same as the black bit in the 2nd link. When you say about replacing the pedal or getting it welded, what exactly do you mean here? It's going to be a garage job, just want to know what I am talking about so I can tell them what it is when I ring them?
  8. Just got home to the other half arriving in style ... After some advice here, clutch pedal gave way on her coming off of a roundabout changing from 3rd to 4th gear. There is some plastic which has snapped off from somewhere behind the dash/above clutch pedal and the pedal is stuck to the floor, you can lift it up but it springs straight back down again. Anyone had this before and know what it could be? Car is a 1.9 diesel Any suggestions on what could be the issue would be appreciated
  9. Car was signed over to us last night, insurance put in place which means I can now drive the Octavia myself. Took it to work today and left the Astra at home for the other half. First impressions ... MPG ... wow - double what I would usually get from the Astra! Not a bad car to drive, nice and easy. Finally got round to getting all of the bits I need to change the headunit, hopefully will get this done towards the end of the week. Couple of pictures after parking up at the station:
  10. I have Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's fitted on all 4 corners of my Astra estate and to be honest can't fault them. Seem to be very hard wearing, rears have done 15,000 miles and still have alot of tread left on them. I would stick away from Kumho tyres, had them on the front of my Astra, they were awful in the wet. OK, it's not got a massive amount of power (140bhp from a 1.8 petrol engine), but it didn't take much for them to spin up on even the slightest bit of damp on the road. As for Nankang NS2's, I borrowed a set of wheels from a mate as a temporary measure whilst mine were refurbed and they had NS2's on them, the road noise was pretty bad. I've heard other people say the same too!
  11. Blimey, good to hear these things last. Cambelt is due again soon, was wondering if it was worth doing if the engine didn't have much life left in it, but if it could do another 100,000 then I suppose £300 roughly is worth spending compared to having to get a new car if the belt on this one went.
  12. Old thread, yes, but we could be up for a meet in Peterborough, only 30 mins from home for us.
  13. And at least that way then if something does go wrong and it doesn't work then its simply a few £ to buy a new one I suppose. Thanks for all your help, will get the bits ordered and give it a try and see what happens. Will report back once it's all sorted
  14. We use a company at work who used to be called Manga-Fu, however are now called WEEE Stop. We don't have a contract with them, we just call them whenever we have enough stuff to warrant a collection, although I believe they will collect as little or as much as you have to go. Their website - http://weee-stop.co.uk/ I believe they can destroy hard drives without the need of wiping them, and can also provide an inventory of items they have taken for destruction, and also can provide serial numbers of equipment too.
