  1. He also said it was like a time delay when it was engaged into gear, causing it to jump forward,he said if he put the gear shift into neutral and then put it back into drive it would take off ok,any ideas lads
  2. Hi Lads and ladies, havent been on this site for a while, with work, family and life just didnt get the time, anyway going back to the change over from the 1.9TDI DSG golf to the Skoda octavia 1.9TDI DSG gearbox, well it was a success, only problem he found with the change over was when he was taking off with a warm engine, the skoda would jump forward into gear,he told me it was something to do with the skoda computer not accepting the new gearbox, even though his machanic put the cumputer asleep on the change over, maybe you top men could throw some light on this.
  3. Great lets get the ball rolling, now what day suits most, midweek or weekend, better off stating where your from [county]and then making a time and a place which suits everyone..i m in Dublin.
  4. Thanks Dieseldogg for the reply,do you know off hand how many liters of oil the mechatronic unit holds
  5. Hi,was talking to a chap last night that is a proud owner of a octavia 1.6 TDI dsg, year 2012,he was telling me at 75,000 km he decided to go to a skoda garage to get the gearbox oil changed,he left the car in to the garage in the morning and arranged to collect it in the afternoon, well come midday the mechanic from the garage rang him to tell him the gearbox in that model was a sealed gearbox and the oil in it cant be changed,is this true i would like to know, surely every automatic gearbox oil has to be changed sometime in its lifetime.
  6. My Mechanic said that the brains of the gearbox [mechatronic ] is very expensive, and they are the first thing to go on a Automatic gearbox,as most cars are run off computers when a fault occurs anywhere along the lines in the gearbox the computer is the first to cut out any communication with the fault and in turn puts the gearbox into emergency mode
  7. Sorry lads ,maybe i took it up wrong, maybe it was a 1.9TDI golf and not a 1.6 as i stated earlier,i will be seeing him on Monday and i will get the full facts off him,
  8. Would this meeting be just for vintage Skoda,s or any type of junker
  9. Well it was changed over anyway, all i know is what he told me,he said the gearbox came from a 09 golf tdi which has the same gearbox as the octavia, and it fitted like a glove,it was a 6 speed dsg gearbox from the golf and put into a skoda Octavia 1.9TDI.i did research a bit more about the change over ,i rang a VW garage,a girl i know there is one of the senior reps there,i asked her to get one of their VW mechanics on the phone to me,i asked him was it possible to put a 6spDSG gearbox into a skoda octavia 1.9TDI 6 sp DSG and his answer was yes, boot engines were very close and gearboxes were the same,a few little adjustments on them but they would fit
  10. yes your right, but the golfs came in 6 and 7 speed DSG gearboxs,he told me a friend of his put a 6 speed DSG gearbox into a 08 octavia tdi 6 speed DSG. only going on what he told me.
  11. Hi,i was talking to a VW mechanic today and he told me that the VW 1.6 diesel golf DSG has the same gearbox as the skoda octavia 1.9TDI DSG,[6 speed of course]he said if i need to replace the gearbox either one will fit each other, just need a second opinion.
