Both the Kodiaq RS TSI and TDI ONLY have the external sound actuator. I've driven both (and own a TDI).

Been dealing with a knocking noise when going over sharp bumps when off the brakes. Turns out the pads are a bit loose - seems like the DBA DB8849XP are made specifically for the Golf R caliper which is cast a bit differently and uses a retaining clip. Is the TRW GDB1918 the correct replacement set of pads for the 340mm rotors? I don't want to start a new thread just to confirm this.

Can you explain, with pictures? Multiple sellers sell different product by different makers so it’s not unreasonable for them to have minor visual differences. Just make sure to look at reviews.

Car went in today due to the Side Assist module getting "bricked" for no apparent reason. All fixed now after doing a software update. New issue is that they have discovered that the water pump needs replacing as there's a leak, 83,000km seems a bit early?

You mentioned on hot weather and steep terrain - you might not be using the peak power but you'll be using the peak torque and working that turbo. Definitely will need to upgrade the cooling - a lot of tunes aren't exactly tested towing in hot weather with increased load like the manufacturers do.
