I had a knocking on my VRS under similar circumstances and after a lot of searching on here discovered that it was the climate control flaps. Turn the ignition on but engine off and listen for the noise, if it is the climate control, you should hear it. To save me typing it, copied this from a post from 'Simbo' "For dual climate control, it was ignition on, engine off. Hold down ECON & the bottom left button then the flaps start calibrating in turn." It didn't work for me but works for some. Hope that helps.

GilesCDF replied to Tilt's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
This has happened to me for the last 3 days. Always in the morning after being sat overnight. Everything 'looks' OK under the bonnet afaik so I would be interested to hear any thoughts as well. -

As the topic title says, I have just bought my first car and managed to jump into the deep end with a black 2007 Octavia VRS PD170 with 18" alloys. Mechanically she is sound with a great interior but needs a fair bit of work done to the body. Lots of spider webbing and most panels have orange peel coupled with a few dings and scratches. As the insurance is a bit steep at the moment, I am mostly going to look to improve the bodywork first before considering anything else. Looking forward to getting stuck in!
