  1. Has anyone found out how to update the Kenwood/Bolero Satnav. As car now 18 months old getting message on startup of the satnav screen to update, but gives no instruction how to install or pay for it.. Any help much appreciated. Jake
  2. Due to a cracked screen had a replacement carried out by Autoglass. No problem with the technician, on time and very quick and ready to drive away after a short time for the bonding to cure. It was not a genuine Skoda VW replacement. No idea where it was manufactured. The problem is distortion at the bottom 2-5 inches from the base of the screen. I managed to get a warranty change over with Autoglass but after fitting can still see distortion at base of the screen. Its not quite as obvious as the first replaced screen. And could cause problems when going uphill when its disturbing. But this certainly was not on the original screen. I wonder if anyone else has had this unwanted feature with Autoglass supplied screens. I expect they source the screens from the cheapest possible manufacturer. After all they are dealing with thousands in the course of the year. And our insurance companies are picking up the expected inflated costs, which will in turn be passed back to us with increased premiums.
  3. Am obliged.. Had to be so simple it didnt occur to me.. thanks
  4. Simples but can someone please tell me how to access the OBD socket. On my Fabia 111 ...? Thanks in advance Jake.
  5. Much appreciate the ideas proposed by helpful briskoda inputs. But in my case and as a sad old fart miss the idea of loading up my cd case with 8 or 9 cd's from my 5200 collection of cd.s with the idea of just selecting either just one track or the complete selection.. . I really miss the cd/radio as fitted to past motors. I have in fact used the usb stick method but its not so comfortable Jake.
  6. I've had the car for six months now !.2 Tsi 110 SE L and generally pleased with the performance and the dsg autobox BUT ! Am an old fart who is not too well informed as to the workings of sd's and usb methods of music transfer. In my earlier much loved 2006 Fabia Vrs Mk1 PD 130 I was able to play all my CD's on the built in radio/cd player. I am aware of the sd and usb feature on the Mk111 but, am not really up to transferring in real time my vast collection of cd music.;. The question is ... Is it possible to fit a cd player and power it thru the accessory power plug and connect to the Bolero via the aux ? I know that Vw used to offer the cd player and it fitted under the radio , is this still available or something like it. I cant be the only one who misses a cd player.. Or am I ? jake an old fart in Bexhill on sea..
  7. AG Falco. Thanks for the photos. Appears much nicer than the effort I tried in metal.. Well done, hope others will find your tool to be the answer to .a difficult problem. (Keep up the good work, am sure the wife appreciates your efforts) Jeleoto.
  8. Following from comment by Estate Man. I wonder how many are now awaiting the photo of AG Falco and his wooden tool. Probably runs to hundreds now.. No No . no offence officer ... But will await with anticipation and give my pinkies a rest... jeleoto. a poor old fart in Bexhill on sea.. awaiting the inevitable.
  9. AGFalco. I would very much appreciate a photo of your tool in wood . The metal idea is not working out. . And as you have a proven tool am sure will be of interest to many . With approach of darker evenings am getting a bit upset at having these brighter bulbs sitting on a shelf in the garage.
  10. AGFalco ;;Did you find the need to use the inspection covers under the wings and did you need to remove the battery for better access ? Like the idea of the tool you describe its probably easy to work the strange shape in wood rather than cobble up a bit of metal. Wonder if Dithane cares to add anything .?
  11. Have been thinking on the lines that Dithane has hit on ..Some sort of two finger short extension . Am thinking of possibly a length of aluminium strip 8cm long 2cm wide formed into open end tweezers about 2cm open end .That might just slip over the bulb holder and enable a decent turn to be made. At the moment its only an idea but am desperate to fit some better dips.. Anyone care to add to this problem ?
  12. Who ever designed these lights has never had to replace a bulb on a wet night out in the country. Halfords tell me they charge £7 for each bulb fitting... Although this is not cheap they have done it before.. Problem is. You cant have Halfords in your boot waiting to replace just a bulb I have tried a few times now to uprate the dipped beams, but just cant get my digits into a position where I can pressure the fitting. Has any one found an easy way to get the b....... bulbs out ? I can see me taking the front off to get to the bulbs, did it on the earlier Mk 1 Vrs when I fitted Hids, but then that was a much better car to work on.. HELP please someone out there
  13. Sorry to repeat request but am desperate to get a clear answer Has anyone had reason to remove/replace a headlight unit on the MkIII. It appears on first glance to just involve remove the front grill and then the black metal top rails holding the units. But that might be just too simple ? I did it on the previous MkI Vrs and was quite straightforward although lots of bolts were involved. Help please Jake.
  14. Has anyone had reason to replace one of these units.. On the face of it should be quite a simple task with just a few bolts to remove. But I would appreciate advice from someone who has actually done it Help please. Jake.
  15. Looking for advice re the projectors... Wanting to fit some whiter heads and dipped bulbs. But see that the battery is a problem with access to the bulb covers. Can anyone offer advice based on experience , I wonder if removing battery might cause a problem with the electrics and something might need to be reset ? Any advice please would be most grateful jeleoto
