UPDATE Spoke to Skoda UK I bought the car from stock to avoid delays at the end of my contract. Had i specced voice control, then according to the brochure, it's a £35 option. Skoda confirmed that the upgrade via dealership involves plugging the car in and downloading a code. That's it. BUT, they can set the price of "labour". So they quoted me £175. No parts involved, just plug in and download. And dealerships wonder why service customers avoid them.

Ag falko thanks for that. Press and hold activates the phone when Android Auto is connected. Brilliant! A good work-around. Thanks. I just hoped the voice activation was built in. RickW the info set is the Amundsen with sat nav. I had hoped to use voice control via the infotainment rather than the phone. Can't believe the "key code" for that is another £200

Just picked up a new Fabia 3 SEL last Friday. When i push the voice button I get a message telling me I need an activation code from the dealer. While I was there today on another issue (start/stop error requiring new software . A known current issue with the cars, apparently.), I asked about this. I was told £130 for the code and £65 to install. Is this for real? I didn't query it, just thought stuff that for the ability to say "call home", but I wonder if we were at crossed purposes. Can anyone help?

hi Danciwo In the end i stayed with the standard wheels which were r15, rather than the r14s on my last Citigo. I spent the extra on options. Dynamic trim looks very good for the money; better upholstery, sport steering wheel, gloss dash and privacy glass for only £150 as i remember. Couldn't risk r16s on English roads.

Ah, I didn't realise there were issues here. I'm ordering new and going by the range of engines in the brochure. Are there imminent changes?

If you read my last thread (safety in action) you know what happened to my tdi190 SEL last week. Confirmed written off, so I need a replacement. The reasons I bought the original car still hold and I have a debt of gratitude to the vehicle, so, not messing about, I will order a new Superb Estate. This time it will be an L&K with a dsg box. But which engine? Another tdi 190? With the uncertainty over the future of diesel I am tempted by the 220tsi. Already had valuable feedback on that engine from another member on here. So what do you think? I do about 20k p.a. I know I will lose 25% of my mpg with the petrol, but what do I gain? Is performance and refinement in a different league, or should I continue counting the pennies at the pump? And please don't say tsi 280. Just don't tempt me! Looking forward to some opinions.

Witnesses who stayed with me until Emergency Services arrived were both aghast at the speed she was travelling. One, an off-duty PC said he was in the process of calling it in to the police before i was hit. So, prosecution , hopefully.

It's not the only thing looking less than pristine! I feel very lucky and if I take anything away from this, it's the fact that I will spec the next car from the safety options list first before spending the remainder on trim/sound system etc. The metallic paint and l.e.d package did not save my life.

Yes. Spinal board. Time slows down in a crash. I remeber thinking as it rolled " this isn't too bad. I could get away with this", then the impact against the trees threw me back into the seat with enough force to break the backrest ( and my ribs).

No not fitted. Will spec every possible safety feature on the replacement car. Really got away with one this week.

She and partner were unscathed. Their's was a 30mph front impact. Mine was the 80mph rollercoaster.

Definitely within 10% of 70mph

Still waiting for the Police to contact me. I had been in the outside lane for nearly a mile. She just drove into the back of me. Must have been well over 100mph. She hit hard enough to destroy the front of the BMW , front axle, all air bags etc. Bright, clear day, straight road, little traffic. ????

In case you were wondering about the structural integrity of the Superb... On Sunday I was doing 75-80 ouside lane of a dual carriageway. Saw in my mirror a BMW closing at ridiculous speed before rear-ending me. The Superb was lifted by the impact, did 2 barrel-rolls and then an end-over-end roll into the trees. I was cut out of the car and taken to the trauma centre. Result; a couple of bkoken ribs and lung puncture. Medics and fire crew said they expected life-changing injuries from the forces and mechanism involved, but I am home with just pain-killers. One said, the car did a great job. Will be ordering a replacement L&K asap.
