After about 7 years of Octavia Mk3 vRS ownership, I’ve recently traded it in against a rather nice Portimao Blue BMW 320, 2020 model. The Skoda was certainly a nice car to own, but sorry to say, the BMW - wow, it really feels like a car on a whole higher level. I’ll miss my clever Skoda bits - well I kept most of them actually, they’re in my van now 😁.

A note for @ColinD Truscotts Skoda dealership has now been sold, apparently to theSouthwest-based Yeomans Garages company. They’re already operating as Yeomans Skoda (the neighbouring Volkswagen dealership that was once also a part of Helston Garages, is also now Yeomans). I popped in on the day after the change to drop off a Xmas present and to say the staff were feeling unsure about the change was an understatement. Hopefully their jitters will be unfounded. So for the time being, same office/showroom/staff/workshop. Four Skoda dealerships: Helston, Indian Queens, Exeter and Bridgwater were acquired by Yeomans as part of the buyout of the Helston Garages Group by Vertu Motors. https://www.am-online.com/news/acquisitions-and-deals/2022/11/30/yeomans-acquires-11-audi-volkswagen-and-skoda-dealerships-from-helston-garages -
Welcome, I look forward to hearing your first impressions when you’ve had it out on the roads a bit longer.

@PetrolDave I haven’t had any noise issues with a couple of sets of UHP Summer tyres, Michelin PS4 and Goodyear Assy 5’s . We really just don’t get the same cold spells as much of the rest of the UK so All Seasons, often with a higher price tag than Summer UHPs, haven’t factored into my buying choices. Everyone’s circumstances and driving needs are vastly different, I often find these ‘what tyre’ threads aren’t much use because of this. Doesn’t stop me giving my opinion though!!!

The Hankook Kingergy AS2 that came =1st in this right up-to-date tyrereviews.com All Seasons tyre test sounds just the thing for what you’re looking for. Less expensive than the Michelin and Goodyear normal favourites, but an excellent performer, especially in the noise rating. Still nudging around £100 each though. I hardly ever see any snow where I live in Cornwall, so I’ll be sticking to buying Summer tyres for my Octavia.

Saw the photos over on your thread. Can’t give any advice on what you’re doing I’m afraid, as I’ve never changed any of my MIB 1 stuff. I don’t even have a USB connection, just the original MDI connection. Completely useless to me, but everything works well over Bluetooth thankfully.

Looks like a fine car, loving the Race Blue metallic. The immaculate Gemini alloys put mine to shame! What improvements did you make to your vRS infotainment?

Skoda new logo & brand identity https://www.skoda-auto.com/news/news-detail/brand-identity Just been reading about the new design language being brought in with the Vision 7S, along with the new style Škoda lettering. Seems like the flying arrow is set to disappear almost completely from the exterior of Škoda vehicles (not sure about interior) with just the lettering appearing and rear (and sides on V7S, but that’s just a show car). Modern Solid Vision 7S and new design language show Seems a pretty safe evolution from something like the enyaq, and for me, still way better than the designs of other core VAG brands - Audi, VW, Seat.

Replace stereo with infotainment system

Hi, welcome to the forum. It sounds like a good route for you to upgrade will probably be via an aftermarket Android-based double DIN unit. There’s a thread already somewhere around here detailing a suitable model, available in the UK. Have a look at the xtrons website. -
That's a Gripen, single engine, where the Typhoon has two :geek/

The Coasting function isn't going to work in "stop-start" traffic though, unless you're leaving really big gaps, because as soon as you press the brake the smallest amount the appropriate gear will be re-engaged in =\=~ 500 ms to 1s! And why use 'tiptronic' on a m-way cruise? (that is an old term for what Audi called the semi-auto system when fitted a fair time back, BTW. DSG is a wet dual clutch system, Tip was an auto torque converter) If you mean with the gear selector lever to M, what's the theory there? For me, it's Cruise control on and let the DSG does what it does best!

Yes I needed one recently, bought Bosch A331H via Amazon - £7, fits perfectly on vRS estate. Much longer than 13" and it would foul the rear spoiler. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0068M0SAG?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_H2KTZ2V28J0GMQWDVS2S

You probably pulled back the gear selector lever as you selected D - pull the lever back against the spring-force you’ll feel there and it switches from Drive (D) to Sport (S) as you saw displayed. Gear change behaviour is changed for a ‘sportier’ style. It is a common DSG facility. In a manual I just found online it describes it like this:

Leaving the bonnet unlatched for a while, can it be done without issues?
Pilotguy replied to DSL's topic in Skoda Karoq
Actually, I think the Charge-O-Mat IS a rebranded Ctek MXS 3.6. Mine charges my Octavia battery perfectly okay, but I wouldn’t be so confident about a Karoq. I probably need to think about an update for mine before next winter.
