Sorry about the blank post yesterday, one of those days.

The intended post was about tyre wear after only doing 8400 miles over three years from brand new.The car was due its first MOT and everything fine except an advisory for cracking and perishing on all four tyres.

I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem with Bridgestone tyres.

  2. Hi everybody,my 1966 Fabia SEL DSG went in for second service on 23/01/18 with 5488 miles on the clock .The battery was low and showing infotainment would be turned off ,this shows most of the time as my weekly mileage is low as can be seen by my annual mileage. I requested the dealership to charge up the battery and check the front assist and Kessy as they were not working. The dealership phoned to say the service was done and they were charging the battery and the faults were because the battery was low. They delivered the car back and the report showed the battery was good and 50% charged. Over the next two days I covered 33 miles and when I turned the ignition off on the second day the screen popped up the dreaded battery low warning. I immediately phoned the dealership to ask how a 50% charged battery could loose that charge in two days. The first thing they asked was had I been using the wipers ,heater, demister and the radio I told them of course I had used them with the weather we were having, snow sleet and rain.Their answer was the one I expected, using all of them at the one time would drain the battery and the mileage I had done was not usufficient to charge up the battery.I had a few choice words with them about the worth of the battery but best they could tell me was the car would always start and to try to do more mileage and this would let me use all the boys toys on an expensive little car.Technology is a wonderful thing.
  3. Two days after an 80 mile trip and an 8 mile local run to the dealer for its first service (2641 miles on the clock)up pops 12volt battery low, infotainment turned off message.Dealers service manager says battery tested and shows it's a good battery, says cars low mileage is the cause and it's the latest technology in the car that's drains the battery quickly.Skoda assist says the same thing????
  4. The car was in transit when I ordered it
  5. I bought a Fabia DSG SEL and got within three weeks,it is good wee car but to get the best out of it you've got to make sure you keep the mileage up or it drains the battery. This is due to all the technology used on the car, this is what Skoda told me,also at the first year service the service report showed that the back discs were scored and defaced they said this was because of the low mileage the car had done in the year which was 2642. Good luck
  6. I had problem with misting and put on windscreen and rear screen demist and blower full on and it cleared straight away.Maybe as you suggest the roof factor could be the problem. Suggest you contact Skoda assisst for advice.
  7. My dealer is Parks one of the biggest in Scotland. Thanks for all the replies it seems that along with the battery problems and the discs low mileage is a curse with modern cars.
  8. I have just got my first service, car has done 2642 miles and the dealer tells me my rear discs have scoring and defacing caused by the low mileage the car has done.Anybody else encountered this problem. Has anybody
  9. Skoda have jus replied with an apology for the delay. They do not recommend fitting a bigger battery but recommend buying a trickle charger to charge the battery overnight.Maybe they should supply one with every new car as it seems they accept the one they fit in the car is not up to job
  10. I messaged Skoda assisst eight days ago to advise if a bigger battery would help, they have still not replied.Customer service ??????
  11. £20000+ would come in handy for an electric one
  12. No I am from just outside Glasgow area, thanks for the reply
  13. Message: 12volt battery very low infotainment turned off. Keyless system also not working. Emailed Skoda Assist, received phone call 8 days later, to say that because I am only doing 2600 miles a year the battery is draining and this is causing the problem,as the advance technology used in the new Fabia Mark 3 needed fully charged battery. I was advised that if I was'nt able to do more mileage I should start the car and let the engine turn over for 15-20 minutes every day to charge up the battery.I was also advised that if the battery gave up on me it would not be covered by the warranty. I now have a £16000 car that has all the bits and bobs with a battery that's not up to the job
