  1. I think I spotted your post when I searched for an answer before. I haven't had a chance to try it, though wondering if changing the door auto locking operation will make any difference. I plan on giving it a go. I will post up anything I find on here. Rich
  2. Thank you all for your help. Apologies this is about our newer Fabia, Mk3.5 from 2018. I've adjusted the option on the infotainment system for the doors, so that's one job sorted! I'm not sure the interior light coming on can be adjusted after stopping the engine/ignition. I wonder if it might be linked to the door locking/unlocking after driving over 10mph and not unlocking until the door is opened after stopping the car. If I find out I will post back here. Yes our other car is a Fabia from 2009, Mk2 level 3 which is the equivalent of an SEL now a days. Thanks 👍
  3. Hi everyone We have recently got a Skoda Fabia Mk3.5 1.0 SEL estate, with start stop button ignition. I have upgraded our VCDS as the other didn't work on the newer car (also have a Mk2 Fabia). When stopping the car, pressing start/stop ignition button, and the engine (basically ignition off) the interior lights don't come on. The lights will only come on when starting to open one of the doors. This means you are in the dark until opening the door when trying to grab stuff to get out. Is there an option which puts the interior lights on once the ignition and engine are switched off? When unlocking the car - currently pressing the key fob unlock button it unlocks all doors. I have had a search on the net, though struggling to find the operation to change this to, 1 press, only drivers door open, 2 presses all doors unlock. Many thanks in advance for any pointers Rich

  5. Thank you both - A9X SJ and Black vRS Oct. I think I will be able to tackle the drums when I get a chance, just time at the moment is the big problem! I will be interested to hear how you get on Black vRS Oct as I have plenty of tools to tackle jobs and used to do a lot on my cars.
  6. Hi all, I've been cleaning my Fabia MKII today, after a few miles, about 3K since I last cleaned it so feeling a little guilty! I noticed today both rear bump stops had gone today. Is this a DIY job? Frustrating as I'm sure they were ok last time I checked, although the car has been laden on a few occasions and done quite a few miles recently. Its currently on 50K. I noticed two of my alloys are starting to corrode too, very annoying as it hasn't done many miles really. I guess its more down to the fact its 7 years old. Does anyone have any neat fixes to keep them going or should I just get them blasted at some point? Does anyone have any neat tricks to get tar off? I am a bit limited on time, I used WD40 on an Octavia to do it although this took me hours to apply, remove the tar, and then polish. The last time I had a car that was plastered with it I took it to a valet place to get it removed which cost about £60. Just niggles, though it annoys me when I clean the car and find stuff wrong! My rear drums now need painting too! :( Cheers in advance for any thoughts of fixing that lot quickly! Rich
  7. I have heard that over the past few weeks, the issue with Windows updates on Windows 7 and 8.1 being incredibly slow is because Microsoft is prioritising Windows updates for Windows 10. They don't want people on Windows 7 and 8 anymore unfortunately. The agreement is to support Windows 7 until 2020 and Windows 8.1 until 2023. I am remaining with Windows 7. I have seen so many issues with older machines trying to run Windows 10 its not worth it unless on a new machine. Even then I am not a Windows 10 fan.
  8. Fantastic car and thread Ken. I really enjoyed reading it, you certainly know your stuff.
  9. I drive mine on a range of roads, at various speeds (within legal limits might I add) and revs. As fabiamk2SE says, every engine will like a bit of revs once every so often, rather than say sitting at 40mph every day for 20 miles. Use the turbo range, take it up to 4K once every so often to blow the muck out. I don't take mine about 4K to the red line as it is not worth it. I get about 50mpg out of mine on a range of roads, mostly rural.
  10. I have only just read this too, my deepest sympathy goes out to you, your son and family at this hard time. I cannot imagine what you are going through.
  11. Thanks fabiamk2SE I need to get logged on with VAG COM to see whats going on, just haven't had a lot of time to do it recently. I have been debating about a head units for a bit. Any that you would recommend? Mine is one of the last MK2 Pre Face Lift models - 59 reg. Not sure if this makes a difference with the connections.
  12. Mine seems to have lost it completely. I am half tempted to upgrade the stereo in the spring anyway, as I've technically been look at a Dance unit for the past 4 years (was the same stereo in my last Fabia).
  13. No nav on mine. I wonder if its stereo related though. I just wondered if anyone had seen the problem before. Its under warranty, though previous discussions about stereo's and Skoda warranties often lead to "it not being covered"
