  1. I suggest you think carefully about delivery dates beyond 1st April 2017. The car tax hike will cost you more over your period of ownership, especially residual value compared with a late 66 plate.
  2. What's the difference between the 2016 and 2017 specs? You might see from an earlier post of mine elsewhere that I don't trust the configurator to give accurate information eg it says the SE comes with 16" wheels as standard which others have said is incorrect.
  3. Anyone know how the 2017 SE spec differs from the 2016 spec?
  4. Thanks for the replies. I just noticed that the spelling of 'telephone' in that link is also beyond them so I'll take the whole conflagrator {sic} with a degree of scepticism. Mum likes to have brochures in front of her to leaf through. Normally I dismiss them as out of date as soon as they're printed but I inadvertently clicked a box asking for one to be sent to her home address. Was this wasteful? Could it be relied upon for specifications in the purchase contract with the dealer?
  5. Can you provide the link please. This is the one I've been accessing (choose SE trim at the bottom): http://cc-cloud.skoda-auto.com/gbr/gbr/en-gb?carline=62827
  6. Looking to buy a new Fabia estate for mum. The 'configurator' tells me that one of the differences between the 'S' and 'SE' standard specifications is 16" Mato alloys. This doesn't 'configure'. Is it a typo or does the SE 2017 model which I understand the configurator reflects, have 16" wheels as standard? I could ask my local dealer but my confidence in my local dealer is pretty low. When I visited earlier in the year to see a car shown as stock on the Skoda website, it wasn't there and had never been there. It is still listed as a stock item. Configure that.
  7. Looked at a 51 plate L&K estate last week - the first Skoda I'd looked at buying - and was appalled at the rust under the tailgate glass. The dealer just shrugged his shoulders as I walked away in disgust. I thought it had had a rear shunt poorly repaired. Bought a hatch at the weekend which has faultless bodywork.
  8. Bought a 99 Octavia 1.8 for my mum yesterday with the same intermittent gauges fault. Removing number 7 fuse is really a great work-around. Would love to know why. Thanks to previous contributors to the forum for saving me a large bill.
  9. I've undone the four nuts holding it secure but I need to remove an oblong piece of plastic trim from below it on the outside. Is it just a case of easing it off (it's not coning off without a fight) or am I missing something. Your advice would be appreciated. Phil 99 Octavia Hatch
