  1. Thanks for the pictures, there sooo useful. I've been playing around with it, messed around with both sides and the ones visable when the bonnet is open but I was just logging on to see where the front the front fixes are, but you already shown me. It seems that the bumper moves up and down at the passenger corner, so guessing this fixing under the grill is damaged. I have managed to get it a bit closer though but no where good enough. I will pull the grills off, as you show in your pics, and play with that in the daylight. Also, I have a metal plate acting like a big washer on the sides, yours doesn't seem to have that?? I really appreciate the pictures, thanks.
  2. Thanks for that. I'll have a crack at it tonight.
  3. Can someone please help me with adjusting the front bumper after a knock from a kerb. The passenger side is hanging down slightly now and I'm not sure where the fixing brackets are or how to re-align them. Thanks
  4. Been doing abit of thinking along those lines as I have much better things to spend £100 on at the moment (bloody holiday season!). Would it be better to run the S bushes or find some from a lowly VAG with a something like a 17mm bar and stretch them bushes over the bar nice and tight? Or I could pack the bushes out with a rubber lining of my own?
  5. I've looked at it as it just rusted where the bushes make contact. I guess this thins the bar out and means the bushes wont grip properly. the car does feel wobbly sometime too so I guess it all related and the the arb can move around side to side.
  6. I have just been advised by my local (and trusted) garage that I need to replace my front ARB as it has corroded where the bushes meet meaning the bushes will not contact properly. My question is though should I simply replace with another VAG item or buy an uprated one? I dont really drive fast or go on track days though so I would I get the benefit of spending alot more money?
  7. Ok thanks mate, I'll give it try!!
  8. Thats what i thought would happen but i could'nt get it to pop out, the bracket just bent further.
  9. The what now? No I just took the top bolt out from the bracket.... I guessed that you would be able to wiggle it out somehow.
  10. Can anyone help me?? I've just spent an hour trying to remove the stupid bracket that holds the anti roll bar bush on and I cant get the bottom curvey bit disconnected. Is there a trick to get it out? Any help greatly appriciated.
  11. I had this exact same problem, ended up butchering a breaker car and putting it onto mine. but as it had canbus wires in it, I got some a bit wrong and the electric mirrors dont work!! I also got a new window seal and protected the plug inside the door using some plastic and a rubber band to stop any future problems.
  12. Thanks guys, how much should I expect these parts to cost if I fit myself? There is also some wear showing the in the front anti-roll bars - would this contribute to the problem?
  13. The cars done approx. 102,000 - mostly moterway miles in the begining. Last month when I had the car set up on the lazer alingement and they said that rear was slightly out, but as mentioned it is not adjustable. If the shocks are shot but with no signs of wear, How I tell? Also on inspection the front anti-roll bar bushes look like they've seen better days, could this cause these symtons?
  14. Got an on going problem with my 04 Vrs estate in that its not really stable anymore. Its been gradulally getting worse over the past year, and the symptons are, kinda like your driving on a really windy day and the gusts seem to take you a bit, its like that but worse over bumpy roads. It doesnt seem to handle the corners aswell either. I have had 3 garages take a look and one problem, bushs on the front suspension, were replaced as they were showing wear. Its had two new front tyres and all the suspension geomotry checked and corrected. All this work made it slightly better but its not cured it. I'm thinking that the shocks might be going but I cant see any leaks anywhere. So I'm hoping that someone out there will have experianced this and be able to point in the right direction otherwise I'm just going to have to sell it:mad:
  15. read the ask a tech section, there is one very similar in there.
