  1. Hello guys! I used to post on here quite a lot but not been on in a good while as the place seemed to get a bit crowded with boy racers a few years back! Hope all is now well... Without further ado, up for sale is my 2009 (59 Reg) Skoda Octavia vRS MK2 FL 2.0 CR TDi. Race blue, black leather, private plate, all the usual vRS refinements, 106,000 miles, 3 previous owners, first registered 04/12/2009. Considering that this car is 9 years old, it’s in pretty nice condition, as you can probably see from the attached photos which were taken this morning after good clean! The car is MOT’d until December 2019. Recent service with cambelt / water-pump change. Nexen tyres all around, rears are nearly new, front tyres are brand new (the old ones you can see in the photos have since been changed). There are a few age-related scratches and stone chips on the paintwork as is to be expected with a 9-year-old car. The interior plastics and upholstery are more or less immaculate with only slight wear on the driver’s seat bolster. I have owned the car for three years and am reluctantly selling it as my father in law is offering me his ‘64 plate A4 for a price I can’t really turn down. Since acquiring the vehicle, I have had it serviced and maintained with no expense spared. Paperwork for what seems to be pretty much all the work carried out throughout the life of the vehicle is all included including most of the recent MOT certificates and all the service receipts etc. The car has never been remapped, raced, abused, smoked in or used to transport pets. It has been very well looked after and hoovered, washed and waxed regularly. There are no dents, bumps, scrapes or significant scratches (apart from the one mentioned below), and as far as I am aware the car has never been involved in a collision. The bad bits are as follows: 1. Clutch occasionally sticks halfway down when 1st or reverse is engaged. I have been advised that the master or slave cylinder likely needs replacing; 2. Alloys could do with a refurb; 3. Slight cosmetic damage on front bumper lip which was caused by hitting a low stone gatepost. 4. The dreaded ‘Dieselgate’ software update has unfortunately been carried out – it hasn’t caused any performance issues that I have noticed apart from a slight decrease in MPG which seems to be a well-documented side effect. I’m reliably informed that the update can be reversed by any reputable tuning company. All interior and exterior electrics, lights and switches are in full working order and the air conditioning blows cold. Apart from the clutch issue, the car is otherwise in mechanically excellent condition. Parkers Guide recommends £4700 for one of these in good condition. Taking into account the clutch problem, I’m willing to accept £4500 for this including the plate. First to see will more than likely buy. You are welcome to come and view the car at my home address whenever is mutually convenient. I live in the L17 (Aigburth) area of Liverpool. Any questions or to arrange a viewing, send me (Mike) a message on here, call me on my mobile (07885 981 075) or e-mail me at [email protected] If you wish to test drive the vRS, please bring your drivers licence and a valid insurance certificate. No test pilots, tyre kickers or time wasters please. If you require more photos or information then don’t hesitate to get in contact with me. Thanks for reading!
  2. Guys thanks so much I really really appreciate that, the closing date is 30th September, keep the votes coming!
  3. FUBAR thanks so much for that, very much appreciated. I emailed them regarding the lack of verification emails as a few people had mentioned it to me and apparently there was an issue with them over the weekend which is now fixed. Hopefully a few more members on here might vote and share and get me to the top!
  4. Evening guys and girls! I have returned after 3 years in the wilderness! I still own my Fabia vRS SE (#245) but my boisterous 2 year old seems to have taken my focus elsewhere and I barely have time to have a coffee in peace these days, let alone be a helpful member of this site! I have returned really to ask a favour from anyone who cares to take a minute to read a sad story. On Sunday October 12th 2014, my life was changed forever when my baby daughter, Lucy Elizabeth, was born at 4pm and died a short time later. Clare, my wife, had been just under 20 weeks pregnant at the time. Lucy had previously been diagnosed in-utero with an extremely rare and serious incurable heart condition called Hypo-Plastic Left Heart Syndrome. As time went on, Lucy's health deteriorated and she developed additional complications. We were told that her chances of survival were very unlikely. In the aftermath of Lucy's death, one source of great support and comfort came from a charity called Little Hearts Matter, who specialise in helping children and the families of children affected by serious heart conditions including bereaved parents like ourselves. With their support and advice we have been better able to gain an understanding of the complex medical problems that affected our baby and start to come to terms with our sad loss. Like all charities, Little Hearts Matter rely on donations to enable them to continue their incredible work. As a thank you to them for their support I completed a solo walk of the 75 mile long 'Cumbria Way' from South to North through the Lake District National Park in July this year, raising nearly £3200 for them in the process. I have since entered a competition which is organised by the outdoor clothing company 'Mountain Warehouse'. Anyone who has completed an outdoor challenge for charity in 2015 was eligible to enter and the winner receives a cheque for £10,000 which is donated to their chosen charity. I know a lot of you guys don't know me personally or even at all, but I did once post fairly regularly on here and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind visiting the following link and voting for me in order to help me win some money for this charity that has helped me so much. http://www.mountainwarehouse.com/charity/entries/cumbria-way-walk-in-memory-of-lucy-e2479.aspx To reiterate - I am NOT after any donations and voting is completely free - all you need to do is enter your email address when prompted and click a link in the verification email you will then receive. It takes less then a minute. Thanks so much in advance guys. If you would like to read more about my angel Lucy Elizabeth then you can visit my justgiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/mkelly4496delta/ (this is now closed to donations). Best regards to you all and I hope to post a bit more on here from now on! Mike
  5. All fuel on sale in forecourts has to comply with UK and EU quality regs - fuel at Tesco etc is refined at the same refineries and sometimes even delivered in the same trucks (I've seen a BP truck delivering fuel at my local supermarket). It won't be as high quality as the likes of vPower or BP Ultimate but they contain additives which can provide increases in efficiency and performance. I'm not entirely sure if the additional price on what is already an extremely expensive product justifies the marginal gains though. Bog standard diesel and petrol is all the same stuff.
  6. Ooh yeah brother, there was the lighter 'lemon yellow' and the darker one... was it 'sprint yellow'?
  7. Exactly right mate, can't be bothered going out in the cold to take a photo of mine, but a quick google search brought up this: https://s-hphotos-ash4.fbcdn.net/190268_1457871347070_1841990307_824026_5909103_n.jpg
  8. No fuel snobbery here either, nothing wrong with Tesco fuel, I get 400-450 miles out of an unvented tank if I use Tesco diesel or any other diesel for that matter.
  9. Just had my belt and tensioners replaced at Alex Lawrie here in Liverpool - they don't replace the waterpump too but they did check it and said it looked OK and didn't need replacing unless I really wanted it. They offered to replace it for an extra £50 but I said no. I'll get it changed on the 2nd belt change if I still have the car in another 4 years.
  10. vRS came in black, silver, red or yellow only and then the 2007 SE was blue. White is a respray - nice looking car though!
  11. Thanks mate, the guy I spoke to on the phone was quite coy about the price saying it basically depends on how much the alignment is out by - I wouldn't know how much it would cost to be honest but don't want to be ripped off.
  12. I dunno man, I think I preferred the old, tired set up, haha! The front end now just seems to crash and bang over even slight road imperfections. It does feel tighter but as I previously said, it feels a bit slide-happy at the front too. How much would I be looking at for a proper 4 wheel laser alignment? Don't want to spend that much more on it!
  13. Thanks guys, didn't realise having the bushes changed was that big of a job to be honest, that explains why it wasn't cheap I guess!
  14. Hi mate, thank you for your detailed reply. I have just got Skoda bushes on the car, I asked for Cupra ones but was told they couldn't get any in that day and I wanted to get it all done on the same day. Thanks buddy, I will get the tracking looked at and hopefully that will cure the problem.
