    Help, CAMBELT

Hi all. Long time no posts but now have aquestiop for all you experts 🙂. I have a 66plate Yeti SE 1.2 TSI that has given me pefect service and peace of mind. It has just been serviced,MOT'd and brake fluid changed. BUT, I have been told that the CAMBELT must be replaced at a cost of £550! It came as a bit of a shock after just paying £300 for the service ect. I don't distrust the dealership but it does seem a bit excessive, or am I losing more of my marbles than I thought?🤔😒 I don't usually keep my cars this lomg but I haven't been able to find a car that sits all my needs a well as the Yeti(s) have. Any thoughts or advice please?
  2. I had this on my first Yeti and it turned out to be a poor driving habit on my part! Without realising it I had my resting on the brake pedal as soon as I corrected this the problem disappeared. Fred
  3. I have had the spare wheel option and the raised floor on my 3 Yetis. I bought it with my original Yeti and swapped it to each one in turn, 5 minute job no toole required. You might find a friendly dealer who has a used Yeti in stock with one fitted who would be willing to swap. Remember it wasn't original equipment so it won't make any difference to the donor vehicle. Tailgate tent

For some reason, I think site insurance forbids them, some sites won't allow them. Used to be quite popular about 20 years and Suzuki even offered one as an accessory to their mini jeeps.

NICE!! Just had to bite the bullet and pay the balloon payment at the end of my agreement. It's mine now low mileage and it fite us two! Heavy negative equity. Looked at lots of cars but decided prices had moved faster then we'd anticipated, hence buying our own car. Enjoy and lurk at your ease, it's a nice place for lurking.
  6. I have towed with all 3 of my Yetis ; 110ps manual, 140ps 4X4 DSG and current 1.2DSG. Only 1400Kg caravan but no problems with any of them. Not towing currently as too old but I wouldn't hesitate is saying Yeti is good for towing as long as you are sensible in the weight you tow. Fred
  7. Remember that there has been a serious change in the weather in the last few days! Mine (and the previous 2) shows some condensation (and large droplets) on the passenger side and inside window but it disappears within a few minutes if I run the aircon. Fred
  8. Hi Colin

I have just received this message from Paypal. Is it anything to do with you?

"SUMMIT 360 Ltd cancelled your automatic payments. This means we'll no longer automatically draw money from your account to pay the merchant. If you have any questions, you may ask SUMMIT 360 Ltd about this cancellation."

  9. Thanks Guys I've ordered the one from Latvia! Fred
  10. Anyone know where I can get the Left Hand rear reflector for my 66 Yeti 1.2 tsi please? Fred
  11. I towed a 1500kg caravan and it never stressed the car in any way. Fred
  12. DSG every time! I test drove one and was converted and I've had two since. Current is 1.2tsi but previous was 140tdi and we towed a caravan with that one. Fuel consumption was 43mpg overall. Fred
  13. Don't order one yet! I have one from an earlier Yeti of mine. They are a standard fit and easy to fit yourself. If it's any help you can have it fro cost of postage.
  14. Before I get attacked by those people who I have blocked I have a question/suggestion about this. I drive a 1.2 Yeti but I think this is transferable to the Karoq. Is it not possible to use manual mode to select whichever gear you want? Last Friday I was in a queue in wet snow on a slight incline, traffic had come to a stop about 5 cars ahead and it was too easy to spin the front wheels. I however notice that the gear change between first and second was very quick and the wheel spin was quickly controlled. I was able to turn around and find a less slippery route, feet off pedals and let the "brain" do it's thing. Very impressive for a 2wd car. Fred
  15. My current Yeti is the first that I specced a heated windscreen and what a good decision it was! On frosty mornings I start the car and turn the screen ON. By the time I've gone back indoors and got my coat on the screen is clear. A further benefit, mentioned above, is the ability to instantly demist the screen before the heating system can function. One of the best options I have ever had! BTW. Ford hold the patents/licences for heated screens and , as far as I've been able to find out, Skoda are the only manufacturer to offer it as an option. I've recently been looking for a replacement for the Yeti and all other dealers had said the same "only available from Ford". They were all not aware that Skoda did provide the option, even Seat couldn't! Fred
