I've never had any serious kerbing in my Occy. Just the standard mishaps that any driver has. -

Is that an expensive repair? -

17" Kuhmos to replace the identical ones I had on before. -
Can anyone offer advice on this problem? Whenever I turn the steering wheel too far either way, I'm getting a grinding/vibrating/knocking noise from the front of the car. Is it a problem with the steering or what? I've noticed there are some rubber flaps in the wheel arch in front of the wheels that look ripped. Could this be the tyres rubbing against these? Or have I accidentally had too large a tyre fitted? Anyone else had this problem?

I took my Octavia II Vrs there for it's 20k service a few weeks ago. Turned up at 8.30, as arranged. The place was, not surprisingly, empty of customers, so I thought I would be seen to promptly. I walked up to the service desk where 2 staff were sitting at desks. One was on the phone, he acknowledged my presence before continuing with his call. The other one ignored me completely and I had to stand waiting for a full 5 minutes til the guy finished his phone call and saw to me. Even when he did, I felt like just another name in his appointment book, turning up to dutifully pay my service fees. The service was quick enough, but one of my tyres ran flat on the way home due to a badly-fitted valve cap. Schoolboy error on their part. I'll use them til my warranty expires, then I'm back to Nationwide Autocentres.

I've read on some sites that it's possible, and even fairly simple, to upgrade the stock turbo on the Octavia Vrs II with a little bit of tweaking by a professional mechanic, as an alternative to fitting an entirely new turbo. Any thoughts on this regarding plausabilty/safety/performance/fuel demands, etc?

Had my Octavia VRs for a few months now and the stock Dunlops are getting toward replacement time. I found these tyres pretty poor for road noise, grip and feel. Any suggestions for something better? I do about 25K a year, mostly extra-urban and need something with pretty good endurance.

Hello all. Just joined this site, seems like a good source for info and kudos from other devotees of the greatest affordable car manufacturer this side of the Slovak Republic. I bought an Octavia II VRs in black about 4 months ago and am having great fun pelting around the country in it. Only negatives are the fuel economy (a real kick in the nuts after running a TDCi for 4 years!) and the stock Dunlop tyres! Would be grateful if anyone could offer a suggestion of a better replacement with a bit of enurance. Mike
