  1. Bump. Car is on ebay and auction will end this weekend so if you are interested get in touch. If it doesn't sell on ebay it will regretfully be scrapped
  2. FOR SALE - V reg Skoda Felicia Lxi First a little history. This car was found on the roadside a couple of years ago advertised as a £250 non-runner by a fellow Briskodian (Beryl's Chief Pilot). Together with one of the ex-technicians from Whitehill Skoda in Meopham he restored the car to working order, including rebuilding the bottom end of the engine and fitting a new timing chain. The car was for his niece to learn to drive in so he also fitted dealer-fit reversing sensors and a blind spot mirror adaptor. His niece ended up getting another car to learn in so Simon sold the car to me in May 2011 when I sold my Octavia. Unfortunately the service book was lost before Simon bought it so it has no service history but it was serviced and the timing chain replaced as part of the engine rebuild in 2010. Since I've had it I've given it oil and filter changes every year, plus an air filter and serviced the throttle body but it has not had a garage service it. The aux belt pulley disintegrated on the motorway in early 2012 so it had to have a new pulley and belt which were fitted by my local garage (receipts available). The good points: - It's economical - does about 40mpg on a run - 1.3mpi engine is an old Skoda design which is pretty bulletproof, has a timing chain rather than a belt and this was replaced a few years ago - Only 88,000 miles on the clock, of which only 18,000 since the engine rebuild - Reversing sensors and blind spot mirror - Spare wheel and tool kit - 2 months MOT and 5 months tax - Front strut brace (fitted as standard) - Low tax (£130 a year) and insurance (I pay about £250) - Spare set of wheel trims (it has small ones on in the picture but I have bigger ones that cover the whole steel wheel) The bad points: - the bodywork is an absolute mess. I will not lie, it is a real shocker. There is no major rust although there are the odd spots on the door sills. But the amount of scratches, chips and badly touched up paintwork is massive. The offside panel has a section of painted filler near the indicator which has stood up fine while I've had it but looks pretty **** to be honest. - It runs pretty badly until warmed up (approx 10 mins), if you stall it during this time it is a pig to get started again. It's been like this since I got it and people on here suggested it might be a temperature sensor but that didn't work. Personally I think it might be a leaking exhaust manifold gasket that seals up once the engine is warm. - There is a slow oil leak from the sump seal at the aux pulley end. I don't know if this was caused by the garage when they replaced the pulley but you can see small patches of oil underneath it where it's been parked. It probably needs the sump removing and a new sump gasket fitting. - The rear brakes are squeaking a bit, suspect it needs new rear brake shoes to get through the next MOT. - the interior is a bit old and tired Other than that it's not a bad car! The reason why I haven't fixed the above issues is the car is worth so little I don't want to be throwing hundreds of pounds at it. We are selling it as we have just bought a Seat Leon TDI so can't afford to tax and insure two cars otherwise we would have probably kept it as a weekly shopping car. PRICE - £300 If I don't sell it it will be scrapped (would be a real shame) and I can get about £150 for scrap but it would be great to see it go to someone who wants to break it for spare parts or repair it and use it for a rally or something. If I can get £300 that would be great but I'll accept offers near that. I realise even good ones only go for £600 or so and this is far from good. If you're interested please PM me for my mobile number and get in touch. I am on holiday between the 1st and 5th November but around evenings next week and next weekend if anyone wants to view it. The car currently has valid tax and MOT and is insured so buyer can drive away as long as they have their own insurance. Here are some pics Engine being stripped and rebuilt New timing chain kit Engine bay Some of the nasty bodywork...
  3. Up to you, can't say I ever had any problem with the radiator bushes on mine and I got rid of it with over 140k on the clock. Konde - no idea about the Mk2 but to be honest any car which vents the crankcase vapours to the inlet pipework (most cars these days) benefits from having the TB cleaned once in a while as over time the oily deposits get cooked onto the inside of the throttle body and inlet manifold.
  4. Also - mk1 Octavia estate.4 pot turbo engine, single downpipe and cat and you can fit lambo calipers.

  6. I remember having a Porsche Panamera come flying up my chuff on the way to the Ring in 2007 while I was doing a 3 figure speed in the Octy so god only knows what kind of speed he must have been doing. Quite scary when you have to get over into a lane full of lorries all doing 60!
  7. Yep, Stagea's a straight 6 like the Skyline. At least, the turbo'd engines are. Not sure if the 2.0 is a 4 pot (mate had a turbo'd one in his R32 GTS Skyline and I'm pretty sure that was a 6 pot) Old B5 Audi S4/RS4 Avant - Biturbo V6 although not sure about the downpipe/cat (I think it has twin downpipes and cats), only has two piston front calipers although the S4 ones can be swapped for the RS4 ones which are still 2 piston but accept a larger diameter disc Mitsi Legnum VR4 - turbo V6, exhaust is 2 into 1 downpipe with 1 cat, brakes are two piston
  8. This could well apply to a roundabout where you approach on a two lane road and the first exit is only one lane, the correct way to take the first exit would be to approach in the left hand lane but if traffic is queueing people will often approach in the right hand lane then try and come off and bully their way into the single lane. Happens a lot in the mornings at a roundabout near me with queueing traffic coming off the A21 going into Tunbridge Wells.
  9. I think it'll be easy enough to enforce, in traffic I'm sure they won't bother but if it's a quiet motorway with some plum sat in lane 2/3 with nothing in lane one then they're fair game. Don't agree with the IAMS comments that training is the only answer rather than fines, I think both are the answer. What's the point of training someone if there's no fine when they don't do it properly?
  10. If the garage was any good they'll have done water pump at the same time as it has to be done when the belts off, tensioner should have been replaced too. Should be marked on any old receipts. I found a load of Meguiars cleaning stuff at my Mums and a spare standard divertor valve and thermostat, I'll box them up and give them to you next weekend. The space where the CD changer goes is just about big enough for a small sub and amp if you build a little enclosure out of MDF. I only changed the front components in mine as didn't want a load of extra weight in the boot.
  11. The petrol engine's the same as the GTI so probably about 45mpg for the petrol if that's anything to go by. In the real world that will probably be around the 40mpg mark which still ain't bad!
  12. The estate looks amazing in profile. Can't see why anyone would buy an Audi A4 Avant when one of these looks so similar and will be a lot cheaper. Not sure about offering 3 different size wheels, surely body flex will be affected and you will need to change the dampers if going for the 19" ones, same reason the Mk1 hatches with the larger wheels had bracing bars fitted. The only misgiving I have is that it's now bigger than ever, aiming at Mondeo sort of size, so I reckon will feel like a right barge compared to the similar engined Golf GTI. Wonder if Skoda will offer the E-Diff and map upgrade in a performance pack as VW are with the GTI?
  13. Good to see you signed up on here mate! You should pop along to one of the Maidstone meets sometime, only down the hill from you and it's a relaxed pub meal type thing. Not really any Mk1 VRS owners there any more but they're a great bunch of folks (and I really ought to go again!) Stay away from the Octavia I part of the forums, it will make you want to spend loads on the car!
  14. From what I can remember in Germany they keep their premiums down through two main methods: - They put a much wider range of cars than we do into their "high" insurance groupings which means most cars (not just high performance ones) are out of the reach of inexperienced drivers, hence less accidents - The TUV is a whole hell of a lot stricter than our MOT so there are less accidents caused by parts failure or dodgy modifications less accidents = less claims = lower premiums
  15. Once again the BBC crew managed to go through two red lights following the lads car. Granted the lad had gone through only just after they went red but the film crew car went through a few car lengths later so could quite easily have hit a crossing pedestrian or had someone smash into the side of them. The third red light luckily they were way behind his car and had the sense not to follow it. BBC should be ashamed of themselves.
