  1. i think 4 pipes is overkill on a 4 cylider hatchback personally. two round black tailpipes, a bit bigger than stock would be my suggestion. your car though so your rules
  2. got my new car on saturday so i need these gone. open to offers and can discuss dropping them off / meeting somewhere if it helps anyone out.
  3. not exactly, my company buys the car but we do that via a lease co. Yes good spot You're aware on the latebay forum they refer to eary bays as "prototypes" ?
  4. ha ha.. nothing exciting, needs to be a load lugger (kids and dog) and cheap to run but primary motivation right now is money saving, so i'm just about to pick up a 3 yr old honda civic tourer. 1.6 d does real world 70+ mpg and a stage 1 map gets you 309 lb-ft which should be enough to get it moving.
  5. This is my last week in my vRS. I had my first vRS back in 2009 (coilovers, stage 1 map, bbs) which after 100k miles i swapped for a near identical 2012 vRS (biltstein, H&R, neuspeed wheels, Brembos, columbus) which i ran for a similar 100k or so. That was replaced in 2016 by the current pre-facelift Mk3 vRS 230 in meteor grey. I've loved my time in this car and it really is a fantastic machine, plenty of power, diff is excellent but it does all the family duties and day-to-day grind so well. The stock spec of the "230" is just fantastic, leather heated electric memory seats, nav, bleepers etc everything you need. I've not played with this one as i have been putting my "modding" energies into my camper van. Reason i'm going? Well this is a company car and the tax is just crippling, plus i can't order a 245 (logical replacement) or a manual cupra either due to wltp bo11ocks and there is no clarity on the tax that i'll be paying post 2019 - it could jump up for performance cars and i don't want to take a risk. The car has been 100% reliable over 80k miles / 30 months. Only negatives; leather on the gear knob is rubbing off, OEM dampers are rubbish (bilsteins would have been worth the investment) and the glossy black trim around the gear knob is way to easy to scratch, nothing big though. 6. looks great - what wheels are those?
  7. This is my winter wheel and tyre set. I have run these on my mk3 Octavia vRS but as that car is shortly to be replaced these are now for sale. ATS emotion wheels x4 in satin black. These are 18x8 ET45 and a perfect fit for the octavia either mk2 or mk3 version, should also fit 5x112 superb i believe and any other VAG car with this PCD. Goodyear ultragrip 8 Performance winter tyres x4. These are fantastic winter tyres, they're not only awesome in snow but they are great in general cold weather day to day driving in the UK. They are quiet and grip well even when we get the occasional out of character warmer days in the winter. On a vRS these are perfect - you really don't notice much drop off in performance vs. a set of summer tyres. Both fronts have 6.00 mm tread depth. Rears have 5.00 on one side and 4.5 on the other so these have lots of life left in them. I have all 4 centre caps (ATS) plus a spare, and i'll include the correct wheel bolts and spigot rings you'll need to fit them (oem vag bolts won't work). ATS are a German company so these are a quality set of wheels and are TUV approved. Two of the wheels were new JANUARY this year so are near perfect. the two others are older and have some light kerbing as you'd expect on a used winter wheel but none have buckles or repairs. They are still in their factory paint so nothing is hidden - what you see is what you get See pics for condition. I've taken close ups of any of the marks i could see, prob makes them look worse than they are but i'd prefer to be as open and honest as possible about the condition. TBH once they're fitted you really don't see the marks. I will also include 4 genuine VW storage bags as per the pics. A couple of the bags have missing clips but they still work fine (velcro fastening) and they help protect your wheels in storage/transit. Collection only from Oxford (or Andover possibly also). Any questions just ask. New these wheels are 120ish each, and the tyres are also about the same so to buy this set new incl shipping/ fitting would cost you c£1,000 new. I'm asking £500 ovno. 8. not much beats the octavia for quality, performance, space - that's why i'm on my third .. i'm currently looking for my next car, will be prob civic type r, or megane rs, or cupra st. the only used 245's i could see around currently all seem to be dsg which i don't want, and you can't order one new so it looks like the current vrs will be the last.
  9. @juan27 i have a full set of 18"s in the garage with goodyear winters on. i'm in the process of ordering a new car which will most likely take me away from vag products, in which case (if the new one will be here before winter) i'll be selling mine. some pics here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/lotus-gt/albums/72157629244138357 pm if you're interested (i'm oxford btw)
  10. suggest just to rear first see how you like it - it's an easy swap. had h&r on the last car, made a noticeable difference.
  11. Serious question @Jaco2k and any other guys who've gone from fast Octavia to something else.. what was your short list? Mine's a company car so i'm balancing cost vs. performance and it needs to carry family of 4 and occasionally a dog. Civic type R - awesome to drive, just about big enough but expensive and looks are challenging Cupra - as above i think it's a little *too* understated, quicker than octavia, boot is fine but it's expensive compared to the skoda for not much more (other than 300bhp) Megane RS. A bit small maybe but prob just about enough with a roof box. Cheaper than cupra or type r but only 280 bhp 1.8litre. No demonstrators available yet. Renault dealers are rubbish. Golf R wagon is just too much money for me (and dsg only) same for focus RS. Anything with merc/ audi / bmw/ volvo badge is is also too expensive if you want to go fast. What else did you /should i consider?
  12. didn't mean to offend. I think octavia is bland too, maybe you're right, "understated" is a better word. I see a lot of "fr" spec leons everyday and there isn't much to differentiate the cupra other than the big wheels. cupra is in my top three..
  13. not on the list unfortunately. lots of reviews have said its a hard ride too.
