Yeah, I guess so. If it needs doing then I'll tackle it but probably just leave it for now and keep an eye on tyre wear. -
Hi all. Rear Suspension Adjustment Seized. Again! Had this done about 7 years ago with new bushes and bolts. I dowse the lot in GT85 once a year. Was in the garage for some front suspension work and asked them to free off the bolts for when I get 4Wheel Alignment done in a few weeks. They say the bolts are seized in the bushes. What's the cheapest, best way of tackling this? I'm not seeing any adverse wear on the rear and the steering is straight and true. Should I just leave it?

My late 2004 Elegance has Cruise Control but definately NO light to tell you it's active.

Looks more like RED | WHITE | PINK, though I think some refer to the PINK as PURPLE or VIOLET just to add to confusion. I have had the T55 for years. It's a solid unit but very slow to scan and gives limited info that you then need to google. It lists loads of addresses you can scan but a lot (most) are not supported on older cars. I bought an OBDEleven and it is miles and miles better than the T55. Much quicker to use and gives more info on faults. Highly recommed this over the T55. Get the Next Gen one as the earlier model fouls the shroud of the dashboard so it doesn't plug in right. -
1.9 vs 2l tdi, which is best?

I find the 2.0 16v TDi drives more like a petrol than the 1.9 i.e. its more free revving and doesn't have the low down slug of torque the 1.9 has but it pulls higher into the rev range. I can manage 58.7mpg measured by filling tank on a 400 mile run to Scotland and back but that is cruising keeping revs around 2,000 and driving like a granny. Rubbish around town though. -

My 2.0 BKD TDi has done this since forever. Had various new batteries over its life. Cleaned all the earthing points with emery paper etc etc etc. No fault codes. Starts on the button when cold (had a slight issue last year when it wasn't driven much). But when hot it takes a few cranks for it to fire. I just take it as a characteristic of the engine now.

I have long legs and can get a full size road bikes with 700c wheels in the back of my Octavia hatch with both wheels still on. I've got full sized doors in the back albeit with the front seats a bit further forward than usual. -

Yup. Me too. Following. Hate touching the inside of the screen as it's a nightmare in the low sun of winter with smears etc. -

If they are aftermarket versions of the originals (ebay etc) you'll often find them slightly too big to fit. I've had this happen three times on different cars now. I've had to file down the plastic nibs to get them to fit after smashing one like you did with a large mallet. Saying that, I got some genuine Skoda ones for my 16" OEM alloys. They are such a tight fit if I had a pucture at night or on a busy road I'd nver be able to get them off safely. Last time I took a wheel off the center cap was such a fight it suddenly set go and I almost ruptured a disk in my back that had me laid up for two weeks in extreme pain. -
Well, it seems to be starting OK in this weather (fingers crossed). I guess I'm driving it more rather than cycling to work at the moment. I'll get it properly tested in Jan when it's in for a brake fluid change.

Thanks for the replies. Sorry, not had chance to investigate further as I've been suffering from a particularly bad back. When it's better I'll do some more investigation and update my findings. It seems to be just the first crank of the day is sluggish. Subsequent starts, even with 4-6 hours between are fine.

Afternoon all Battery/starting oddness. Had a new battery back in August 2019. A Bosch S4 008 type 096. Recently it's been a little sluggish on the Starts. Thought it might be a dying battery or alternator. Did some tests as follows. Car has been stood for over a week now. Volts static 12.16 Ignition on 11.65 Cranking 9.80 Idle 14.23 Revs at 2000 14.50 Don't use the car for many short trips. Last two were 160 and 220 mile round trips. Bit worried about the cranking volts. Is this normal? Temp was cold and dank 6⁰C. I previously had cleaned all earthing points during furlough in 2020. Car is 2004 2.0 TDi BKD engine. Any thoughts?
