  1. I can't remember if I enabled mine with code from Github or with Carista it was one of them. I originally got Carista to program for my replacement battery and to take the lock off the maps navigation system to allow you to use any SD card for maps. Carista allows you to change many things simply. But Odb11 does gives you more options. I got my full link unlocked with a download that I purchased from someone on eBay. It works perfectly. I understand though that if you don't have the apple carplay version of the USB socket only android auto will work fortunately mine was the correct USB type.
  2. A lot of places on the internet advertise a activation service. I got mine done for about £80 . I paid my money then was sent a link to download some code. I copied the code to a SD card followed the instructions on the screen and it was completed in less than 5 minutes. I have been using it for over a year and I am very happy with it. If you look at YouTube you can find instructions on how to do it for free.
  3. I have received a quote to replace the camshaft belt on my Seat Toledo which is similar to the Skoda Rapid The belt should be replaced at 5 years irrespective of mileage. Quote labour £207. Parts £93.82. Vat £60.16. TOTAL £360.98

  5. I tried to get the number of the very first car I owned about 50 years ago and wrote to the DVLA . The answer was no. Reply " Unfortunately the DVLA are unable to currently offer for sale registration numbers that were previously issued. However, the DVLA is reviewing the sale of registration numbers and is considering a number of options aimed at both improving service and generating further income. We will note your interest in the previously issued registration so we can contact you if the current position changes and such registration numbers become available for purchase."
  6. I use 16gb cards full to capacity. They used to take 3 or 4 minutes to find the first track. I had the firmware on the Bolero updated a couple of years ago and they play the required track within seconds.. A search of the forum will provide more details. ie".the firware update to the stereo is listed for a bolero curve fault with this update it changes a few things and in turn speeds the sd card up" Mine is in a 2010 Elegance.
  7. I have the same problem. I have fitted the rubbers in the rear coil springs, and it has helped slightly but I still have to crawl down the ferry ramp or over speed humps. This is with two people in the front seats no one in the back and only a bicycle rack with 2 bikes on the rear.
  8. I have been using Danish Vikings program for the SD cards in my Bolero. If I used a 16gb card (full) without using his program it would take the Bolero over 5 minutes before it would play the first track. The car went in for service yesterday and I asked the garage to check on updates for the radio. What a difference a full 16 gb card now starts to play in less than 5 seconds. Not the 5 + minutes it was before. Unfortunately it did not cure the mix problem. But by creating a playlist folder of all the music on the card and selecting that I can get mix to work.
  9. I had problems with water in the passenger foot well. It was eventually traced by the local Skoda garage using the hosepipe method to the bulkhead. It turns out that there is a hole where the steering column would go through if the the car was a left had drive model. There was a small hole / crack in the seal / weld on the cover over this hole.
  10. After mine came on 3 times they have replaced the intake manifold So far the light has not come back on. Octavia Elegance 1.8TSI 18 months old 10.000 miles on the clock.
  11. The exhaust management light came on. The garage replaced the sensor whilst working on it they found that the water pump was leaking. sensor and water pump were replaced. Half an hour after driving out of the garage the exhaust management light came on again. This time they have replaced the intake manifold. So far the light has not come back on.. Octavia Elegance 1.8TSI 18 months old 10.000 miles on the clock.
  12. My last Octavia I had for over 4 years without any problems. This is not the case with the one I have now. When it was 1 year old the floor of the front passenger side was soaking wet caused by a hole in the bulkhead. Whilst on holiday this year the left centre air vent (passenger side) seized up. The exhaust management light came on. The garage replaced the sensor and whilst they were working on it found that the water pump was leaking. Air vent, sensor and water pump were replaced. Half an hour after driving out of the garage the exhaust management light came on again. This time they have replaced the intake manifold So far the light has not come back on. Fortunately the car is under warranty. Octavia Elegance 1.8TSI 18 months old 10.000 miles on the clock.
  13. I have the same problem with my Octavia hatchback with just 2 bikes on the back and camping gear in the boot. No back seat pasengers. Gettingt on and off the ferry was a nightmare even at crawling speed. Going over Speedhumps at less than 10mph still resulted in the bottom of the tow bar catching on most bumps
  14. I had a Witter detachable towbar fitted at the start of this year. I have a Thule 2 bike carrier fitted on the towball. The problem I have found is that on a camping trip with no rear seat passengers but the boot full of camping gear and two bikes on the back the rear end is too low. I have the rear tyres inflated to 40psi but the suspension On the Elegance is so soft that even crawling at less than 5mph off the ferry the bottom of the towball hits the ramp of the ferry and speed bumps are a nightmare even at less than 5mph it scrapes the ground on some speed bumps.
