To anyone who has experienced DMF failure
engpk replied to Jane_i10's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
My Fabia VRS 06 had the same issue you described after many painful months of troubleshooting and pulling the car in bits it was traced to a inner drive shaft CV joint. One small ball and pitting. Replaced both drive shaft inner CV joints and the problem was gone :-) -

www.mytyres.co.uk do Steel Wheels and Tyres fitted and balanced already to bolt on the car. I emailed them the VRS car model information and the tyre size 205/45/16 and they have unfortunatley having supplier problems so have removed the VRS from the car selection. Reading different posts on wheel size's for winter tyres, does any body know what rim on www.mytyres.co.uk web site will fit the VRS with say a narrow tyre 185 perhaps, will be cheaper and better in the snow I guess, if that's not possible a tyre and rim size closer to the VRS standard rim and tyre. Not knowing this subject could you get a 15inch rim with a bigger tyre wall that will make up the over all outer diameter size of the tyre to be near as dam it the same as a 16inch rim with a small tyre wall, like standard. Cheers -
ABS and Brake warning Light on during Cold weather
engpk replied to Broadbean's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Since the cold weather started I have noticed on my 2006 VRS when you turn the key to the first position all the warning lights come on and go off as they all self check and are error free I presume. When I start the car the ABS and Traction Control light come back on and then go off after a couple of seconds. When the car has been warmed up after a journey and you come back to it and restart the car, the warning lights do not come back on after engine start up. (normal condition) Also had the water warning light come on whilst ticking over in the drive whilst de-icing the out side of the car - water level is fine -
Fabia VRs vibration through accelerator pedal
engpk replied to tel boy's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Add the same problem on a 2006 78K miles - Inner driveshaft CV joint - pitting on the bearing contact guides and one small bearing in the CV joint -

Thanks for your reply's. Unfortunately the car has no warranty, it was purchased from a friend who had the car from new. The car has never been involved in any form of accident and has been regularly serviced. My previous car was an 03 Fabia SDI and that also had this issue but was hardly noticeable, I'm beginning to think it is not a fault and just a feature of the Fabia. Doe's your VRS have any form of vibration / wobble under any type of road driving conditions that you can feel not necessary through the steering wheel, would be interesting to know. Please note this vibration / wobble is not serve, most of the time you don't even notice it.

Hi, Recently purchased a 06 Fabia VRS that has done 76,000 motorway miles / field engineer. I soon noticed the car appeared to have a wheel balancing problem and the steering wondered tracked the road – Steering issue fixed with new track rod ends fitted. All four wheels were removed from the car, all balancing weights were removed and any old balancing weight sticky back tape, tarmac tar lumps removed cleaning the rims back to new. The rims were then taken to a local tyre & alloy company and balanced via the computer balancing machine. At first I thought this had fixed the issue but now after a few weeks of driving the car under different road types and air temperatures I'm not so sure. The problem I have is I can at times feel some form of vibration whilst driving even at low speed under no acceleration then other times I feel it at static speed or speed under acceleration it does not feel like any wheel balancing issue I have had on other cars I have driven. I'm also thinking it is worse when conditions are warmer, drove this weekend on the motorway during the day early afternoon and it felt quit bad, drove home tonight in the dark and cold and it was hardly noticeable. I'm thinking possible engine & gear box mounts, steering rack or front wishbone console bushes. Any advise or suggestion recommendations please ?
