  1. My 1.4TDi hatch is 4yrs/63k - I got mine done last year by the local Skoda dealer with an MOT and it came out around £400 for the lot, so likely not a dealbreaker and if you do buy and shell out to get it done you'll have peace of mind that it's really been done and will give you no trouble for the next few years.
  2. Dude! perfect timing. Mine has just ticked over 4yrs so I'm getting the cambelt done next month and T&P are only about 20 miles away. I'll give them a bell for a price. Cheers! (for the record Norman Fairweather in Dundee couldn't/wouldn't give me a specific price but said I wouldn't get any change from £500)
  3. I had my console bushes swapped for the Cupra ones yesterday and my car is MUCH noiser than before, I'm getting all sorts of vibrations and resonance. I put it down to the 1.4 being a bit choppier than the 4-cylinder engines but it was a touch surprising just how loud it all was. It gets better at higher revs, so I spent most of the drive home in 4th instead of crusing along at 2k rpm in 5th like usual. I've got my fingers crossed that once the bushes bed in the boominess will settle down, but considering how quickly the standard skoda bushes wear and the cost of getting it done at a garage (you'll still have to pay for alignment even if you diy) then I'm happy to put up with the increase in noise purely for longevity. It's also transformed my gearchange, it was sloppy and notchy before and now it's sweet as a nut - dogbone mount is next on the shopping list, it's amazing the difference new bushes can make.
  4. Just as aside, my car ('06 1.4TDi) has these 4 spoke bushes fitted. Not sure if they were original or if they've been replaced by the previous owner, but the cars just clicked over 61k miles and the drivers side one has broken so they don't seem to be any better than the 2 spokes. Just the outer arm of mine has broken down but it's squeaking and clunking like a good'un.
  5. Did you pin down the problem? I've got the familiar noise on mine, going to get the console bushes and dogbone mount replaced since if they're not the problem this time there's every chance they'll fail in the near future anyway, but if there's anything else to replace as a precaution while it's in the garage then I'll get it ordered.
  6. Great guide. I just found a puddle in my OSR footwell, so will be doing this over the weekend.
