  1. I managed to get an electronic copy (PDF) of the UK Skoda Superb v3 brochure https://www.dropbox.com/s/rkks5qz37l6utpd/Superb%203%20brochure.pdf?dl=0 I can only upload up to 2Mb apparently, so i've linked to a copy in my dropbox account, if someone wants to attach it properly, please do. Cheers, MPM
  2. Well, some investigation last night found that the rear washer hose had split in the rubber hose to the boot lid. Water down the loom behind the light cluster on the left. Found this, dried it all up and all is working so far.... ...now to work out how to patch the pipe together as i don't forsee it being an easy pipe to swap out. MPM
  3. *edit: After some research - distribution box = Central Electronics Unit Eep.
  4. Spent all evening (in the rain eurgh) looking into this with a friend last night. It's the (RHS) Single filament bulbs that are switching off, and they are definitely registering as 'failed' on Maxidot. Now, there's no evidence of water ingress (on either side), all contacts seem ok, i admit i haven't cleaned them thoroughly but it all works fine....for about as long as is takes to walk to the rear of the car when just the single filament bulbs power off. Interestingly enough, randomly half way through the evening, they started working fine. Then, after we'd packed up, a quick check and they 'failed' again. Incidentally, the LED bulbs behaved in exactly the same way, came on for a second or two, then powered down. Essentially, the circuits all appear fine, but the 'computer' must be deciding something is up and is powering them down. The last thing we considered was the distribution box under the steering column where everything comes from. We theorised that switching the left and right light clusters around may give us a clue - if the problem switched sides then the problem must be somewhere at the rear - if not - then maybe something more expensive is going wrong... :S When we gave up the lights were working fine....i have no idea what tonight is going to bring though. I bloody hate intermittant problems. MPM
  5. That was the theory i was applying, to see if the reduced resistance of the bulb changed anything - a stab in the dark i know
  6. Thanks for the reply Paul. The bulbs are correct, and i've checked for stuff like corroded connection in the holder and damage to the wiring in the immediate area. The most frustrating thing is that randomly, it'll work for a day or 2 before deciding to 'fail' again. If i could predict this, i would be able to sneak it through the MoT and work out the problem at leisure... I'm going to try some LED bulbs later and see if they respond the same. Ta, MPM
  7. Hi All, I've got the MoT coming up and need to resolve a problem that is baffling me. I hope someone can help give me a pointer or 2. The rear sidelights (driver's side) are being reported on Maxidot as failed. The bulbs it claims are broken are the 2 that are seperate to the main cluster. "Easy" i hear you think - "Change the bulb(s)". --important bit-- I did this, and the problem remains, on closer inspection, the bulbs come on for a few seconds, then switch off with the maxidot error following. --/important bit-- Has anyone got any ideas on how to diagnose this? I'm stumped, staring at the wiring, nothing seems damaged and i'm not sure where to point. Ta, MPM
  8. I had an Audi dealer service my Octavia. They were more than happy and treated it as a combination of the A3 and A4. Actually wasn't bad value compared to Skoda dealer's offering. MPM
  9. Hi all, Our Octy now has a stable partner in the form of an Audi A1. Naturally, i'm keen to get VCDS on it to sort some of my prefered tweaks out. I've had and used VCDS for a few years now, but have come across a new problem. I'm getting the following message: Now, whilst i'm not a believer of VCDS breaking anything, i'm concerned that Audi may spot any changes made and get a bit fussy.... ...can anyone put my mind at ease? If i let VCDS set defaults of 12345/123/12345 is this going to be blindingly obvious to the dealer? Thanks, MPM
  10. The reason i was looking at ECP was because there is a good offer on at the moment. I'm totally open to suggestions. @Octavia5 - that site looks bang on Thanks! @bond007 it worked out at bout £155 for the full discs and pads set - however, i'm not convinced about the pads - the brembos look much more convincing. Looks like ECP isn't a good route after all... Thanks for the pointers. MPM
  11. Hi all, I'm going to be in need of new discs and pads all round shortly and i have no idea what to plump for. Currently, Eurocarparts have a 30% offer going which makes quite a nice dent in the cost. The discs are easy to choose. It's the pads i'm struggling with. I am NOT the last of the late brakers, so don't need anything super special. I'm struggling to see the difference between a set of £30 pagids and £100 tarox pads. (Sorry if that seems stupid :p ) I'm assuming that if i went to a garage and asked them to do the work for me i'd end up with generic Pagid pads and would never notice the difference. Can someone/anyone just reassure me that £30 pads aren't utter rubbish that will turn to dust and coat my wheels in the process within 5miles?... Ta, MPM
  12. The chap who did my conversion said that BRC are in the final stages of developing liquid injection of the gas - which would mean that most of my issues should be nullified due to the fuel getting to where it should when it should, at the right pressure. I think the main problem i had was my petrol is at ~100bar and the LPG was <5bar. Getting the fueling map to 'work' was nigh on impossible. (especially at low revs) Fortunately, the technology is getting better all the time, however, the prices of LPG are getting WORSE all the time - again my LPG man conceeded that the 'easy' savings just aren't there anymore - you really need to be plugging the miles in. MPM
  13. I had mine converted and ended up removing the conversion as it just didn't work right....i'll see if i can find the link to the thread. MPM edit - found it Link to my LPG thread
  14. Thread title - a good point! The Gas prices were a contributory factor to me getting it removed, the 'big' savings just aren't there anymore. MPM
