  1. Thanks skodacarman and nickguzzie, beginning to look as if might be a job for ER indoors. I will try as you have suggested, but I know its as tight as a monkey's !!!!! Bit of WD might help. Might be too much to ask if anyone knows of any pics showing just what to do. Fingers crossed// thanks
  2. Thanks nickquzzi for the advise. I have tried to completely remove the headlamp but can't find any way to disconnect the external connector. I had no trouble in removing the headlamp from the car, but it is difficult to see properly into the lamp without disconnecting the large plug. Anyone know how to do what I thought would be a simple job. It's just got to be me being too soft and not wanting to break any thing.
  3. Thanks for the prompt alberg My Octy 2 Facelift 2010 has the standard lens headlights (not xenon):
  4. . I have checked and replaced the H1 lamp and it is exactly the same.
  5. With out warning the nearside main beam has dipped down. The nearside main beam is shinning at about the same position as the normal dipped beam, which I very odd. There is no warning displayed to indicate a fault. I have checked and replaced the H1 lamp and it is exactly the same. I am at a loss to understand this; the front of the car has not received any knocks or bangs that may account for a displaced beam. All other lamps are working OK, and I have removed the lamp unit and nothing appears to be loose inside the assembly. Does anyone have any idea which is causing this fault? Thanks for any help.
  6. Many thanks for the link - most useful. Defo a keeps.
  7. The above jpeg files attached to this post are interesting. Please could you give some information where these came from.
  8. It is quite clear from the above that Matt knows what he is talking about with regard to the DSG box. So I would like to try to advantage of his experience and ask a question. I too suffer from "jerky gear" change syndrome problem, and would like to known how to go about approaching my local dealer. I have reported this problem to the dealer and been told that as no fault code is shown when testing there is nothing they can/will do about it. I would like to be able to approach the dealer, with as many facts as possible, to indicate that there are a number of updates/amendments that are available to bring the DSG up to the latest spec, should the dealer be prepared to do so. You indicated that the 7 speed DSG has similar problems but often requires changing. When they change the box is there anything different with the new box that will prevent the same faults happening again. The DSG fitted to my Octy is the 7 speed DQ200 and the car is now out of warranty and has never been outside the dealer network for any service work Thank you in anticipation of any help you may be able to give..
  9. So here is my whip for the week (which blatently I shall drive like I stole!). Nice 2lt TDI Elegance DSG which is very unlikely to be out of sport mode while i've got it hahaha Be nice if your "Stealer" saw your posting and was able to extend the same favour to you as you are doing for him--hahaha
  10. Which British car had these wipers which : 1. Went faster as the car increased in speed 2. Went slower as the car increased in speed..
  11. I personally always think that any shade of grey always looks like a primer finish and awaiting the final coat. One thing for sure, I don't think you will see many in that colour, also very nice in fog. But what ever floats your boat
