  1. It sounds like a problem I had many years ago with a Citroen CX. The pin that locked the steering jammed in place and wouldn't spring out of engagement when I tried to start the car. I cleared it then by turning the steering wheel first to the left and then to the right, putting the steering under load in each direction. You have to try both directions as it is not obvious which direction will relieve the pressure. Try to start the car in each position to test if the pin has been freed. It worked for me at the time after a cou[le of goes. Failing that you will have to take the load off the front of the car to allow free movement of the steering wheel. Best pf luck.
  2. I don't like KESSY as a system, but it was fitted to my car as standard. In so far as how it works, I prefer to be sure that the car is locked when I want it to be, so I would not be happy with depending on an automatic lock when I walked away. I wouldn't know if it was locked or not. I do not find it any hassle to touch the door handle when I want to lock the car. In fact I have the lock set up so it makes a sound when it locks to confirm that it hasn't been grabbed.
  3. when I first got my 190 D DSG I wondered about getting the Audi fix or a pedal box. However I have found that I can work around the hesitation by dropping in to sport mode if I want to move away quickly at a junction or roundabout etc. It is so easy to drop into and out of sport mode using the gear lever. At other times I find it useful to use the paddles on the steering wheel if I want to select a gear and the DSG isn't doing it when I want to.
  4. I agree with @ penguin17. My May 2016 Superb has never had a rattle in any window when the window is closed or even partially closed.
  5. I have been happy with my columbus satnav. The only issue I have with it is that even when using the short instruction, it wastes time asking you to 'please' do something rather than giving succinct instructions, which would be much more helpful. To much political correctness in my opinion.
  6. Some people rate the 190bhp version over the 150.
  7. I have 19" wheels fitted to my L&K . With the DCC, the ride is very good. It's much better than my Mk 2 with 18" wheels. I run them at 36 lbs/sq inch all round.
  8. A very interesting summary of the car. I have a 190d L&K on 19 inch wheels. My experience is that the ride is very acceptable, though it can be noisy over broken surfaces. I use the normal setting of the DCC most of the time, but switch to sport when driving winding roads. I never use the soft setting. I am very happy with the ride, which is very much better than most small cars I have ridden in.
  9. @IanJD I was just stating that my car was fitted with it. I didn't both to say I had turned it off.
  10. I set up the chirp on locking and unlocking from the infotainment system on my 2016 L&K 190D (flagship). It is fitted with lane assist which I don't really like, either.
  11. Its a good job you found the tyre wear before it caused an accident. It may indeed be poor tracking/alignment. It could also be caused by so called sleeping policemen. These speed reduction pads set in the road by Highway Authorities across the UK and on the Continent will produce such catastrophic wear of tyres very quickly if you straddle them and drive across on the side slopes at anything more than a walking pace. Having said that your tyres are less likely to be damaged if you put one wheel on the centre of the pad and the other off the pad. However that is (1) uncomfortable and (2) risks damaging your springs.
  12. After 8 years with 2 Superbs, a S2 and a S3, and having had very good service with no problems from either of them, i would go for another Superb. Whichever car you buy, there will always be a small number that are not up to standard. With mass production there are always small variations in the size of components. Sods law says that every now and again all the small variations will line up against having a good car, but that doesn't mean that all Superbs are like that. As @GaSelle says you will find it difficult to equal a Superb at the price. Also from my experience, you can buy many more expensive cars from manufacturers who are just as prone to producing a duff one and if you are the unlucky person to get that car you can have as many if not more problems.
  13. Please that you may have a solution to your sun roof problem @whenwillilearn. If it was poor engineering, it would affect all S3 cars that have a sun roof. That does not seem to be the case, as it seems only to affect a minority of cars with a sun roof. Its more likely to be an assembly issue that happens intermittently.
  14. Like @sagalout I hope you get your problem (s) sorted out. However, whilst there are a few people on the Forum who have had problems with their car, it would seem that the vast majority are happy with the Superb 3, I certainly am. With mass produced cars, there will always be a few that are not as perfect as the new owner would like. These need dealer rectification, or if in too bad a condition, rejection under the law. That does not mean that the general build quality of the car is poor. It just means that out of the very large number built, a few get through the quality check with problems. It happens to all manufacturers no matter the selling price. That does not, however, reduce the frustration if you happen to get one of these less than satisfactory cars. My own experience of current Skodas is that whilst materials are not up to Audi standards, build quality is just as good, design and engineering as good or better in some cases, and the car is a lot cheaper.
  15. I am pleased that @BriskodaJeff has found a solution that satisfies him. To be honest I switched to the brief announcements some time ago, but still find them a pain, and not as good as the S11 version.
