  1. That disc looks like it is the VW disc and would therefore have (I guess) VW garages and not Skoda garages. Also, would a firmware upgrade be required in order to get the most out of the disc? My local garage have given me a disc (v7) so that I could update the system myself, but have asked that I post it back. Having updated it, it is evident that I need a firmware upgrade to get some of the features. They have offered to do the firmware upgrade, which seems unlike some other dealers based upon some comments made on this forum site.
  2. I would suggest that you quote the Sale of Goods Act and point out that, if the problem can be shown to be as a result of a manufacturing fault, Skoda (or actually the dealer you bought the car from) are legally obliged to do the repair. This has worked fine with an out of warranty issue on a Samsung TV and I cannot see why it shouldn't work on a car.
  3. Hi Interesting posts throughout and it does seem as if there is conflciting info. I had heard that lots of Blackberry handsets were now RSAP compatible and that android handsets were also now able to work with it. Not much use to me with my iPhone 4 (does anyone want a second hand 32GB iPhone 3GS?) Also, I was going to get a Brodit clip for the iPhone 4, but didn't manage to find one on the mountsonus website. Where did Busta999 find this? Cheers Nigel
  4. I have v6.1 maps and I managed to update it with POIs. I did struggle and it took me four or five attempts, but when I finally realised that I had misread / interpretted the guidance, it all came together. It is still a little cumbersome, but it does work if you keep at it.
  5. Hi Has anyone definitely worked out whether an aftermarket tv tuner can be added? I've found this DVB TV Tuner on eBay, but am not sure if it is compatible. If it is, would the existing ariel be able to provide signal? I think adding a second ariel may be a negative here. Regards, Andover Tabler

  8. The UK units are not compatible with the iPhone, as the car works on the rSAP protocol which is not currently supported by the iPhone. Will it be added with iPhone version 4 software? Who knows. With regards to the tv, I'm interested in this too. I have found a cheap dvb tuner on eBay DVB Tuner but don't know if it will work with the Columbus unit. When I spoke with my dealer, he suggested that the reason the tv wasn't offered as an option in the UK was that it wasn't compatible with those units that have rSAP bluetooth systems. However, he admitted that he wasn't sure. I'm guessing that others here have explored this area (hence I am searching the forums and found this thread), so hope that I will find an answer soon. 9. I'm trying again Just noticed (after re-reading several times) that the destination file should be all lower case (according to the VW Navi site) Buring some extra tracks at the same time, as I believe there is a need for MP3 tracks to be on the SD card in order for it to be recognised Now to let it save to the card, whilst I get a little sleep
  10. I have the same (iPhone) issue with my Superb Elegance. The bluetooth in the car is absolutely fantastic - the best quality calls I've ever had on a car phone. But.... Apple still haven't issued an update for rSAP (Remote Sim Access Protocol), perhaps on version 4? I'm still having problems uploading clients addresses to the sat nav using the SD card. I had read that the version that has rSAP can accomodate large memory SDHC cards, but every time I try (4GB or 32GB) I get error messages. Have had to pop to Tesco to get a 2GB SD (not HC) card. Even then, I get error messages on the address transfer, whilst the MP3 tracks are copying across fine (right now in my car outside). I've searched the links here and (I thought) followed the guidance, but without success. And I'm normally quite good with tech
  11. Hi I am just about to take the plunge on a Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI 170 Elegance DSG. It is a demonstrator car and is about five months old, with 5,500 miles on the clock. I'm looking forward to this new car (replacing my three year old Saab Convertible) and my extended test drive has certainly proved that this is a quality choice. I've read with interest information about the Sat Nav / DVD unit and it seems a shame that it doesn't automatically include a TV tuner. Also, a bit of a pain that it doesn't currently work with the iPhone. Any way, I can't wait! Nigel (Andover Tabler)
