  1. I booked my Octavia for its MOT and annual service online and noticed on the menu that a cambelt and water pump replacement is now in the region of £823! Now when I had mine done a couple of years ago it was about £600. Now over two years that’s quite an increase even with cost of living inor is it because of longer replacement intervals with a potential loss of revenue due to less frequency of change?
  2. Mine does that too, usually until everything warms up. Then stops. Seems weather dependant too.
  3. Can see my next car being a Toyota too. 10 year warranty is a game changer really. For me anyway.
  4. Looks the business. Cars do last well these days if they are regularly maintained and cleaned.
  5. I think the EV market is nowhere as huge as it’s perceived to be, simply because such a large proportion of UK property have nowhere to charge EVs at home due to no off road parking. There are 17 houses in our road and no drives and surrounding roads are all similar and it’s the same in every town.
  6. I try to keep my car spotless! I use Autofinesse products, Total interior cleaner, Spritz and Dressle dressings and crystal glass cleaner along with microfibre clothes. I use a stiff brush to do the mats and carpets and occasionally a hoover. I park the car at work where I don’t take short cuts over grass! I also have to say, I rarely eat or drink in the car, kids have grown up or a dog anymore, and rarely go to the tip as we have a garden waste bin now.
  7. I`m currently nearing the end of a service plan and I cant purchase a new one until my current expires which is after the offer expires.
  8. I find car cleaning quite therapeutic, my Octavia hasn’t been washed for quite a while now but going to give it a good session tomorrow.
  9. No mention of discs and pads being replaced in that 121000km? I am certainly considering keeping my Octavia long term having owned since February 2017 when it had 11 miles on it and now has approaching 65000. Regular servicing with new discs and pads, brake fluid change and cambelt and water pump change. Car still feels like new and feels like it’ll last forever.
  10. All these woes with the Mk4 Octavia is one of the reasons I am keeping hold of my Mk3, which has been very reliable over 64000 miles. Recently had a Karoq Sportline as a courtesy car which was very nice but no way worth £33k.
  11. I object to you amending my posts without permission.
  12. Mine creaks at the front over lowish speed undulations but not potholes when the car is cold, not so much when warm. Its been doing it for a long time. The rear suspension was worse and was greased up at a service and has been fine now for a good couple of years. Seems to a common characteristic of mk3 Octavias.
  13. Had the cambelt and water pump changed in September 2021 on my 2016 1.6tdi and was charged £600 at Skoda in Canterbury where the car has always been serviced. Have to say the old belt looked brand new.
  14. Have to say that 82mpg doesn`t happen very often! Normally in steady moving traffic @ 50mph with good road surface and warm weather in 5th gear over 10-15 miles.....can happen through operation brock on the M20....82mpg is a very rare occurrance but early 70s is more easily achievable!
  15. I’ve not had any trouble with my 2016 Euro 6 Octavia with exception of fuel pressure sensor. If I was in your boots, I’d go with better the devil you know especially with the current cost of living crisis. Obviously if you Scout does throw a big bill, then you’ve got to look at it objectively. Mk3 Scouts do go for decent money.
