  1. Well, would you believe it, just like my old Audi 80 and Coupe it does indeed have the slots in the cap. Not sure how I missed them, although it’s not my car so I guess I’d not looked that closely. Anyway, cheers for all the replies folks 👍
  2. Sure did. It’s a 67 plate (pre the 2018 facelift). No access the to paper owners manual at present, but will have a look online and check the cap when I’m back with the car 👍
  3. Hmm, takes me back to the days of my Audi 80 and Coupe. I didn’t notice any cutouts on the cap on the Fabia, but I’ll have proper look. Else I’ll get the multi-tool out 🤣 Cheers for the replies all 👍
  4. Every VAG car I’ve owned since the 90s has either had somewhere to hang the cap, or both a lanyard and somewhere to hang the cap.
  5. Is it me (probably) or is there nowhere to hang/clip the fuel cap on a mk3 Fabia when refuelling? We have the ice-scraper stored on the fuel flap but I can’t see where the cap would go. Surely it doesn’t just hang down on the bodywork.

  7. Well, today was a fun day. Collected the V6 at 10am, well, after it had been brought back from being fuelled up and put through a car wash. The spec was identical to mine, so today was all about the engine and 4x4. First thing I noticed was how quiet the engine was, followed by how smooth it was. I reset the trip computer too before pulling out of the dealership. On the open road, time to squeeze the throttle a bit more. A whoosh of V6 hum and a second or two pass and I'm already lifting off so as not to agitate the driver in front... even from that little squeeze I can sense the potential of this beast. I had to collect the missus from town so a bit of urban driving saw and time to flick through the maxi dot; 24mpg. A quick run on the motorway with the missus, up the slip road and another opportunity to let it breath... and nothing, it was caught in too high a gear and it wasn't quick to down change (I didn't press the pedal to the floor, but I still thought it would drop a cog). So, sliding into manual mode and pulling out from behind a HGV and its down the box a couple of gears and woooaaah here we go!! This is seriously quick. The tune played by the V6 is pleasant on the ears even at high revs, yet it's relatively quiet and certainly refined. By the time we've reached the next junction we're up to 27mpg. I reckon I could have got it up to 30 for my normal commute which is 40 miles of almost complete motorway. Off the motorway and I've timed the traffic lights perfectly, we're at the line, with nothing else around. The engine is only just audible... even with the stereo off because let's face it, there's no point having one when there's a V6 up front. Lights go green and we go... and by God do we go. There's no scrabbling for grip on the slightly damp surface, no lag from the DSG, nothing... just the feeling of being pressed into the seats as we fly off the line. Changing to second, the DSG makes it feel smooth and there's no let up in acceleration, it just keeps coming, in bucketfuls. Before I know it I'm changing to third and having to ease off as we've reach the speed limit. This car could loose you your licence in one day!! I had the Superb for four hours and walking back into the dealership I couldn't hide the grin. Richard, my sales rep laughed... he knew I'd be impressed, fortunately he knows to humour me. It's a lot of car for the money that's for sure, especially with the discounts to be had these days. For us however I think we've probably had our first and last experience of a V6 Superb, at least for now... I spent the next half hour chatting to Richard about the new Octavia! Jumping back in my CR 170 later on and I missed the acceleration instantly... But the glancing down at the maxi dot and I can't help but smile at the 52mpg... but oh that acceleration

It's a used model, but we're not sure if we want to take the hit on RFL or fuel, or whether we'll wait for the Octavia, or even the new VRS, or even look at a 3.0 diesel Audi A4... tomorrow is just the first piece of the puzzle! I'll keep an eye on the brakes... that's if I can stop looking at the fuel gauge for a minute!!
  9. I'm off to test drive a Superb V6 Elegance Combi tomorrow I've been waiting for one to be local to me for ages, so I can't afford to miss the opportunity. I've got the 170 CR DSG Elegance at the moment which is great, although I feel the need for a bit more poke - I wish the 3.0 diesel was a possibility, but I know that's been discussed many times on here! I currently get low to mid 50's out of my Superb (indicated) and I know it's likely to be about 1/2 of that for the V6. I currently do about 10,000 miles per year, about 50% of which are motorway cruising. I'm in two minds whether to take the missus along. She knows how fanatical I can be about these things, but if there's the slimest of chances we could end up with such a car, I'm not sure if her being present will tip the balance the wrong way - if you see what I mean..! So, all you V6 owners out there... is there anything I should be aware of?
  10. I had a chat with a Skoda UK rep recently and asked him about a more powerful diesel engine. His response was that Skoda could technically fit one, or another engine in the line up, but it was VW that hold them back. He explained that each model in the VW brand was scored depending on the spec. For example my Superb Elegance might have a score of say 1000. If Skoda were to fit, for example the 3.0 diesel then this would increase the score, let's say to 1150. Now, because the equivalent A6 had a score of say 1175, VW state that Skoda must reduce the score of their model. This kind of explains why we couldn't get the likes of DAB initially or a reversing camera, when it was available in other VWs and Audis... It's all to do with ensuring the Skoda brand doesn't impact on VW or Audi sales (more than it does already).
  11. A great event even with the rain. Apologies for not making myself known to everyone, I was wearing a red top and dark grey gilet, with the missus in tow. We drove the Rapid, Citigo and Octy VRS petrol (missed the chance to try a Monte Carlo tho). The Citigo surprised me the most, especially as it only had 60 bhp. Ok so it showed going up the slip road on to the motorway, but then that's not really what the car was designed for. Compared to the Up and the Mii it seems the most 'grown up' and is probably the best value too. The VRS petrol didn't blow me away as much as I thought it would. We took a diesel VRS out a couple of months ago and were quite impressed, but I expected the petrol to be even better, but it didn't seem that much quicker, I guess I'm just used to the torque of the 170 diesel. The paddle shift is great though... must spec that next time. The Rapid has left me wondering, I'm not sure what its trying to achieve. It looks good from the outside and carries the new corporate identity well, but I was expecting more from the inside, especially as it had a lot of optional extras fitted. Whilst its clearly spacious for its size, I think rivals may have the edge on quality, which is a shame as we know what Škoda are capable of. Hopefully buyers will see the benefits of that space though! A great time was had. Many thanks to RockyVRS for arranging this, and to the Mitchell's team for making us feel so welcome, especially Richard G, Dawn and Neil who never tire of humouring my enthusiasm. It's customer service like this which makes Mitchell's stand out from other dealers!

  13. Regarding the windscreen washers, my brother-in-laws 3 series suffered two broken headlight washer mechanisms due to icing, the fact that the fuse blows on the superb before any damage is caused is a better option IMO
  14. I had this idea a while back, although whilst I could remove the dash trim pieces, a chat with my dealer revealed that the door trim sections could not be purchased separately and were only supplied with the complete door panel. It's a shame now that the L&K has piano black trim. An alternative might be to talk to a vehicle graphics company to see if they could wrap them in vinyl, say gloss black o even carbon fibre effect...
