  1. I recently had this window issue with my wife's Fabia. The drivers side electric window didn't open and then was working intermittently. When I tried it, it was OK so I thought it was her! Then a few weeks later she said it wasn't working again, and this time it wasn't even with the window function on the key button. I tried checking the switch which seemed OK and I was pressing the multi plug onto the motor and they started working. A bit of messing around revealed that the connector onto the motor was flexing slightly. I put a long cable tie around the plug and motor and it has been faultless since. It is worth a look I think.
  2. Good photos Pete, looks a very neat job. Ive had these detatchable bars on a Passat and Golf and it looks as neat on the Fabia, so I'm going to take that route, If I can get silver to match as well as your red I'll be very happy. Once again thanks for your help.
  3. Thanks for the info, that was exactly what I was after first hand knowledge and info. Any pictures you have would be much appreciated Thanks.
  4. Has anyone fitted or had fitted a westfalia detatchable towbar to a mk2 Fabia? The fitting instructions say that you need to buy a blanking plate and associated parts from Skoda to cover the bumper hole, does anyone know if this is a painted part or black and has anyone got any pictures? I don't really want a fixed bar but the bumper cut is smaller but the downside is the towball's always sticking out, and I don't want to find it interferes with the parking sensors, where as the detatchable one's only there when your using it. Any info is welcome, Thanks.
  5. Brake lining warning lamp? saying your brake pads are worn low.
  6. We had ours do the same earlier this year, the fault was rain water coming in the left rear boot vent. I don't know if they changed it or resealed it but no water since.
  7. With reference to the rattle I've had a struggle with a local dealer who refused to accept there was a rattle because they weren't getting paid for diagnosing it! After a number of short roadtests I've found the polystyrene cover under the lower glove box was vibrating. I have removed it and there is no more rattle, took me 20 minutes to find and rectify it but Wings at Peterborough had it 5 times and couldn't do it.
  8. I got mine from the dealer they were in a set of four, they are quite expensive for what they are.
  9. I tried some blades from wiperblades.co.uk and the quality and fitting was poor and the plastic cheap and they were no cheaper than the genuine ones I quickly replaced them with. I thought it was better than a trip to the dealer, I was wrong and paid twice.
  10. My wife spoke to Wings today about an on going warranty repair on our Fabia which constantly rattles and they complained that they don't get paid for diagnosis. We have had the car into them 3 times for the same fault and they just tell us we can collect it and when we arrive tell us they need to order parts and have it back again. They are saying that because we didn't buy it from them they shouldn't be asked to fix it! Needless to say they will not be getting any service work from us.
  11. I was given a new Polo as a courtesy car for 3 weeks, initially I liked it but became unimpressed with the cost cutting compared with the previous model. I then had a Fabia from a dealer for 5 hours and imediately decided if I was buying new it would definately be the Skoda. We have since bought an '08 Fabia 3, and are very pleased with it. Currently there is no car in the VW line up I would buy.
