  1. Correct for the radio bit that opens the doors, but the RFID tag which is used by the immobiliser system is passive and powered by an inductive loop. You do not have to press any buttons to read this. The paper that has been released shows it is relatively quick and easy to crack the encryption keys and bypass the system, but I would suggest your average thief is unlikely to have either the kit or the software necessary - at least for some time yet
  2. My winters went on yesterday. That should ensure the forecast cold weather doesn't arrive. It felt so wrong changing the wheels in 14 degrees and sunshine.
  3. You really need to check the length of your bikes. I have the Skoda internal bike carrier (remove front wheel, attach carrier to front fork), but the Yeti is short and you will have to put a bike in diagonally even with one seat removed, 2 bikes is even harder!
  4. Forget that its called a 1.2 and just remember it has 105 bhp and lots of torque for a small petrol engine - and get a test drive as mentioned above. You will be surprised how punchy it is. If you push it, the economy will suffer but from your description of use and mileage I wouldn't worry about that.
  5. I am with you on that. I had a Fabia and the aircon failed after a year, and now I have a Yeti and the aircon failed after 18 months. Apparently a leaking condenser which was replaced (under warranty so no complaints there), but it is now very noisy, so I am just awaiting the compressor disintegrating ! No problems with aircon in any other brands I have owned.
  6. Just recently had this mod done to mine. The car feels similar around town, but on the open road there seems to have a major performance drop. It feels less punchy - could be psychological but there is a long fast hill I regularly go up and had no problem climbing it in 6th before the mod. Now it is struggling to even maintain speed in 5th. More alarmingly my fuel economy has plummeted. Averaged just over 40mpg from new and typically on a longer run would get around 45mpg. Had a run yesterday, aircon off, light winds and driving gently and could not get it above 35mpg on the maxidot

    Wet Grip

Have to disagree with that. The speed limit has very little to do with the adhesion of the road or the conditions. It is very easy to lose control of a car well within most of the speed limits, and equally it is often possible to drive "safely" above the speed limits. I also think it is useful to sometimes explore the limits of your car where it is safe to do so. If you don't do this, you will never know where the limit of your car is or how it will behave when you reach it - you might actually be driving right on the border of those limits without realising it. Try getting a session on the local skid pan if you want to do this slowly and safely, it might make all the difference one day when you hit that patch of diesel on a wet road! For what its worth, I have the original Dunlops on and have no issues with them.
  8. None in my 2011 car when I got it, but I was left one when I got it serviced a couple of weeks ago.
  9. Yep, 1.2 Manual here and happy with it (and my last car was a 200+hp diesel) It isn't the fastest car in the world, but the 1.2 is more than adequate. First gear is very low which means that 1st to 2nd is a big step which takes a bit of getting used to, but the engine is very torquey and flexible. Typical motorway hills are no problem in 6th gear. Get a test drive.
  10. 8 to 12 inches is always going to be a struggle but this video is worth a look: The red and white ones are 2wd ones, the others are coping very well.
  11. My last BMW was £150 for 5 years/60000 miles worth of services (bought as a deal with the car)
  12. From your description I would say you have made the perfect choice. The 1.2 is not a racing machine by any stretch of the imagination, but with 105bhp and plenty of torque it is more than adequate. How many 1.6 and 1.8 engines were kicking out over 100bhp and the same torque a few years ago?
