  1. I traded in a 12 month old 16 plate Octy Diesel 4x4 for pretty much the same reason as you... change in milage meaning constant DPF regens, terrible fuel economy and the car not even warming up by the time I got to work. My dealer were kind enough to cover the negative equity when I traded it in for another car, maybe your's could do the same.

Worth checking to see if you can do a voluntary termination on your Octavia. Or even have a chat with the dealer as they may offer a part ex to match the outstanding finance you have.
  3. The wife really wants one (she’s 45) and as much as I like it I (30) would only buy one if a more powerful engine came along, maybe the 2.0 TSI out of the Ateca.
  4. Why must this be forced upon us, can they not just provide more incentives to buying electric cars or tax conventional fuelled cars more rather than an out right ban? Unless hydrogen fuelled cars and the infrastructure take off this means I'll be buying my last new car in 2039 as for a number of reasons electric won't work for me.
  5. Out of interest why does the wife want to change brand and what other manufacturers does she have her eye on?
  6. I think it was before then, my VRS 4x4 was registered in March 16 and it had the smaller disks
  7. Normally I either get a list to choose from or just a call with the new reg a few days to a week before I collect, you don't need to worry about insurance until the day you collect or even a few days after as you get 5 days of free cover from Skoda. i actually had to make a claim on Skoda insurance when my wife hit our 3 day old Yeti, they were by far the best car claims process I've ever experienced.
  8. have you had a look at the DTUK boxes? They're highly regarded by many here on the forums and else where. Great company to deal with too.
  9. That's not what Skoda finance told me when I enquired about a VT, I'm guessing the finance company were wrong then?
  10. It it would be 50% of the credit taken out including the balloon payment, it even quotes how much you need to have paid off in your finance paperwork before you an VT it. You can also VT early and pay the difference or do what I've done... get your friendly dealer to take the hit for any negotiable value while still passing on a discount to your new car. Given the discounted prices floating around for my new motor I actually got a better deal this way.
  11. Correct, the two things that affect the GMFV are term of agreement and declared mileage. My my guess is the mileage for the agreement wasn't all that high. Although the time the car for purchased Skoda were still being rather optimistic surrounding residuals.
  12. I actually switched to a Leon, I was so looking forward to going back to a Petrol VRS and the rumble of a higher power variation (now we know it's the 245) but damn the front end is so ugly. im lucky in as much as my Skoda dealership is also a Seat dealer so managed to keep the same kind of preferential treatment I've enjoyed over the years. So, many look at other brands, if you really need all that space in the boot and back I admit you'll struggle to find anything at the same price point, though if you can live without it there's plenty of prettier cars out there
  13. Apple CarPlay is certainly an option but what's even better is using Siri to control your music. Whilst your driving along use the "Hey Siri" command followed by "Play my stuck in traffic playlist" at which point it'll switch. No need to faf around with the phone or cars infotainment (both of which are an offence if the car is moving btw)
  14. I did sign myself up after I ordered the car but as you say the site isn't very friendly on the eyes, especially on a smartphone. I should probably give Tapatalk another bash!
  15. So for the past 6 years I've been driving Skoda's In order... MkII Fabia VRS Pre facelift Yeti 1.4TSI (wife's choice of engine, terrible idea) MkIII Octavia VRS TSI DSG hatch (loved that car) MkIII Octavia VRS TDI 4x4 (Dealers suggestion, shouldn't have listened) So today I took delivery of a Leon Cupra 300 5dr DSG, have to say it's a lovely car, personally I think it's the prettiest of the VAG hatches and the level of kit that comes as standard is pretty astonishing (probably to make up for the hideous depreciation) Been out for a 30 mile drive and I love it, same feeling I had when I bought the petrol VRS. I considered ordering the FL VRS or maybe waiting for the 245 but the styling of the headlights really isn't for me. For now I won't be driving a Skoda but I'm sure to keep lurking around on the forums!
