  1. Hi all, I've come here looking for advice on this issue. As the title suggests, my front suspension is creaky. Really creaky. Even going over the smallest, gentlest hump in the road makes the suspension creak and squeal like a dog's chew toy. I get quite self concious creaking my way around, creating an iriitating racket as I pass. It has especially got worse in the warm weather we've been having, making my driving experience far from relaxing. I turn on the radio (or the excellent in built six CD changer) to escape the noise, but piling noise on top of noise doesn't solve the issue. The noise in so far I've researched could come from a number of sources, either the ARB, the mounts, the dampers, etc. Bearing in mind, the Octavia L&K has done nearly 149000 miles, and I believe none of the suspension components have been replaced recently. I've reached my tether, and I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this, and what ways are there to fix the problem. As its an L&K, would it require separate dampers to standard models? This car truly 'wafts' along, and has a very soft springs. I'm no mechanic, and the idea of replacing the whole suspension unit is daunting, and will have to save up for the work to be carried out. Thanks
  2. Like to say, excellent description, ended up being an easy job! I noticed after I fitted the new sensor, the engine light was still on. Is this normal, thus requiring a diagnostic tool to remove, or does this mean the sensor is still not securely fastened? Or could it even be a different problem? Although last time I checked it was a p0118 fault code that appeared.
  3. It is indeed a PD engine, from an L&K edition. I genuinely was not aware such a difference between the standard to the PD engine, so thanks fordfan for that. And £60 replacement isn't too costly considering the benefits of fixing the part. Thanks for the help
  4. The pipes look fine. The heater is almost directly behind the front right wheel arch. When I took the cover off, which is plastic and had no scuff on, it was filled with road debris (gravel, bits of tyres, etc) but I doubt that can cause the seal to break.
  5. Hello, I wondered if I could get help for this issue. As a new member to the forum, I'm not able to go onto the FREEDOM section of the forums, so I'll post my tech query here. Recently, as I got out of my car, a 1.9TDI Octavia Estate, I could smell diesel. Also, patches would appear on the drive, confirming some sort of leak. When I had a look underneath, almost directly under the driver's seat, there is a cover protecting pipes running into what looks like a fuel heater. From there, drops of diesel were forming where the seals were. My dad and I had a closer look, but we couldn't remove the pipe by hand, plus we haven't got the tools to do the job. At the moment I'm unsure how serious the leak is, there appears to be no effects on performance and mileage. But due to the very high cost of fuel, I don't want some of it to be draining away! Me and my dad thought the O ring fitting had simply worn out through its 124,000 miles of use. For this problem, should I go to a garage or Skoda dealership? I don't want to spend so much money on what appears to be a small replacement fitting. Quick and useful responses would be much appreciated
  6. Hi, I am perhaps one the younger Skoda drivers on the forum (21) but I really like my Octavia L&K estate my dad used to own. Its done a lot of good for him, and am very pleased to have inherited it. I'm hoping to get some invaluable expertise and advice from this forum from fellow Skoda owners
