  1. I sent my 2011 Superb Combi Elegance for its 1st service at 19440 miles to my local Skoda main agent. The car took two and a half hrs to complete and i was on my way home, a journey of two miles. The following day I left home to go to the Motorhome and Caravan show in Manchester, On my way there and about 20 miles from home the red "no oil stop the car and contact your garage" warning lights came on, I stopped in the nearest lay by. I checked the oil and the dipstick was dry! I looked under the car and oil was visible and running down the road and all the engine was splashed with oil. I contacted the RAC and the garage, the RAC came to recover the car and the garage sent a replacement car to so I could carry on with my day. I returned to the garage later in the day to be told the oil filter seal was leaking and it will be the subject of a warranty claim. They completed the work and I got my car back the following day. The following day I also checked my driveway and it was full of oil from my car from the day i brought it home following the service. So, obviously the oil was leaking from the filter the minute it was brought out of the garage following the service. It's scary to think that something as simple as a first service could well have ended with a seized engine and even worse had i been travelling at speed on the motorway, a serious accident. It was indicated to me by the garage that the filters may be faulty? or the seal ? as anyone out there experienced a similar incident. Obviously i am concerned that in the future some damage to the engine may become apparent from this incident. Not least of all the oil damage to the impressed concrete driveway will need to be addressed too. Any comments, advice would be welcome. Regards
  2. Hello I have recently bought a CR170 Elegance Combo and one thing kinda baffles me. How does the automatic tyre pressure thing work. When I press the button the sign on the dash comes on and then goes off what does it mean, how do I relate to the information, is the tyre pressure correct, do I need to check it etc etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Roy
  3. Just to update on this thread, I took the car to the supplying dealer. They checked the Satnav and confirmed it was the V7 They also took time to talk me through the system, Thanks to everyone for great advice, as usual!! [/size]
  4. I just thought I would like to share the pictures of my new Superb Combi Elegence 170 auto picked up on Wednesday 1st June from Mitchells of Chester http://s159.photobucket.com/albums/t159/rmevm/New%20Car%201st%20JUne%202011/ We love the car and is our fourth Skoda and second Superb and I have to say probably the best we have owned to date. We love the colour and think it is a great combination with the interior. Thank you Roy and Val
  5. Just to put the record straight the Superb 1 came with a 105 ps, 115ps and 130 ps
  6. Thanks everyone, as usual great advice on here. I actually contacted Skoda UK give them the details and confirmed it was a 170....so the purchase goes ahead. Skoda also said that the insurance company are not always correct....understatement, thanks again. Roy
  7. So nice to hear the comments about the colour trim combination, I ordered totally unseen (still unseen) due 1st June a Combi 170 Elegance auto with Mocca/Ivory leather. If I can I will post pictures when it arrives. Cheers
  8. Good Morning, I am not new to this forum nor to Skoda. I joined some years ago when I purchased my second Superb. I have now just changed it and bought a new Skoda Superb 2 Estate 170 DSG in Elegance trim and just wanted to say hello to everyone again. I had to re-register due to forgetting my password and my ID, isn't it wonderful getting older!!!
  9. I have just paid a deposit for the purchase of a pre-reg Superb 2 estate in elegance trim auto 170.......but is it 170?? The invoice says its a 170 and have been onto a number of insurance sites and they say the registration shows this car to have a 140 engine fitted. I took my enquiry back to the dealer and they are adamant this car is a 170. simple question how do I find out for sure?? Thanks for your help I am sure based on past experience someone on here will know. I do have the Chassis and engine numbers off the invoice if that would help in identifying the engine bhp. Thanks Roy
