  1. I own a Škoda Superb III Laurin & Klement 2.0TDI (190) DSG 4x4 which I collected new from the dealer in April 2016. Overall this is a good car, however, in my opinion, it is let down by some poor quality parts and assembly, mostly on the interior. Without doubt built to a much lower standard than you expect from a "flagship" car costing around £37,000. To the point that I regret buying the car. The car has been back to the dealer a few times but nothing has really been fixed. I have been reading various posts on this forum and it would seem that I am not the only one experiencing many of these rattles/noises. I intend to contact Škoda UK next rather than the local dealer as so far they seem rather incapable/unwilling to resolving these issues. I would like to if possible be able to show Škoda UK that it's not only me who is experiencing these issues. If you would like to help please reply to this post listing the numbers of any of the problems below that you also have with your car and what variant of the Superb III you have? I will keep the list below updated by adding names below each problem number that applies to your car. So, here's a list of the main annoyances with my car: 1. Rattle/Vibration/Buzzing from central portion of dash board. This usually occurs when under constant load between 1500-2000rpm. Škoda technicians attempted to repair twice but made no difference. 2. Rattle from glove box, occurring when driving over slightly bumpy road surfaces. 3. Rattle/Vibration from engine at revs between 1500-2500rpm. This seems to be worse when the engine is cold. I believe this is coming from the plastic timing belt cover which feels rather poorly attached and rattles if you tap it. Škoda technicians say this is how it should be attached. 4. Door seals squeaking/creaking. This was improved by Škoda technicians adjusting the door strike plates so when the doors shut it will compress the seals more. Unfortunately this meant the doors no longer lined up and looked like a poor accident repair. Next visit to Škoda dealer I asked them to line up the doors to the panels to which the told me the squeaking/creaking would come back which I obviously said is not good enough, they said I can't have both!? 5. Rattle from around the seatbelt height adjusters on B pillars, both sides but passenger side is worse, occurs most of the time. 6. Chrome trim around door exterior coming away from the door in a number of places. I heard a loud tapping noise the other day whilst driving, looked in my mirror to see about 300mm of the chrome strip on the rear passenger door flapping about in the wind, have pressed it back in for now.
  2. Nicowalker85, Just wondered if you ever found the source of the vibration/buzz shown in your video? Mine has a very similar noise, been back to the dealer but still the same.
  3. I am also happy with the overall sound of the Canton system too, only really stumbled upon it by accident and initially thought it could be a fault. It would now seem that it was intentional by Skoda, although still don't fully understand why.
  4. I have just been looking at the workshop manual for the Skoda Superb III and it would seem that all the speakers in the lower parts of the doors, front and rear, are the same part, the document refers to them both as "Bass Speaker". See the attached screen grab.
  5. Thanks for checking this in your cars, at least I now know it's more of a design problem/feature rather than a fault. I have got the Canton optimization set to "All", the fader set all the way to the rear, and also to isolate the rear door speakers I turned the subwoofer all the way down, I could definitely hear the tweeters, can't really say I could hear much midrange, and definitely no bass. If that's how they are designed to be they seem rather pointless, I can't image anyone would notice the difference if they were disconnected. I think the overall quality of the Canton sound system is very good but that lets it down a little in my opinion, well that and the vibration from the high level brake light cover can be very noticeable at times. I was able to pin point where it was coming from using an iPhone app called "Signal Gen" playing a sine wave which you can vary the frequency until the vibration was noticeable.
  6. I noticed today when adjusting the balance/fader on the Canton sound system that the lower mid/bass speakers in the rear doors seem to do almost nothing. If I adjust the fader to the front there's lots of sound from the lower (large) speakers in the front doors, however if I adjust the fader all the way to the rear, then there's almost no sound from the large speakers in the rear doors. Would anyone else with an L&K (Canton Sound System) mind checking if yours is the same please so I can tell if it's a fault or not? I will be contacting the dealer soon regarding a few other issues so wanted to know if this one needs adding to the list or not.
  7. I collected my Superb L&K 190 DSG 4x4 a couple of weeks ago and have noticed quite a few unwanted noises from inside the cabin, just wondered if anyone has experienced any similar, if so have you fixed them and how? 1. Under acceleration, at around 2500-3000rpm fairly loud vibration from centre of the dash, sounds like the air vent behind the centre canton speaker. 2. Loud vibration near the parcel shelf area caused by the canton subwoofer, I think it's coming from the high brake light plastic cover. 3. Creaking/Squeaking from all directions in the car! I think this could be down to the rubber door seals after a Google search, has anyone else experienced this on the S3? It's quite loud, I really noticed it when parking in an rather bumpy car park at the beach last weekend, driving very slowly over small bumps the whole car was creaking and squeezing, sounded like the whole car was going to break in two! I also have a Superb II Elegance 170bhp 4x4 that I have owned for 5 years now and have been very pleased with, hence buying an S3. I have to say though I am not all that impressed so far with what should be an upgrade! The new 190bhp feels slower, less responsive (hesitation on pulling away), less fuel efficient, and has a LOT more noise inside the cabin.
  8. Sounds likely to be the same problem I had with broken wires. See my post in this topic: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/248844-bulb-failure-reports-wrong-side/#entry3335296
  9. I recently had similar problems with the rear fog light in my '09 Superb Twindoor. It started with a warning that the left rear fog light was out so i replaced the bulb then it said the right rear fog light was out so I took that one out to test it and it was fine, after putting it back in the maxidot then said both left and right rear fog lights were out. I started remove panels inside the bootlid to trace the wiring back and found that the same wiring loom as mentioned above was broken in a similar way (see the attached photo). I don't understand how skoda ever thought that this would last, it's a wiring loom that bends back and forth by about 60 degrees over a square metal edge every time you open and close the boot lid! I am sure that this will happen to many of the Superb II hatchbacks over time just depending on how often you open the boot. I have temporarily fixed mine by soldering the broken wires back together but this will not last long. It needs the loom replacing and a strain relief fitted to spread the load over a larger area when it's bent over the metal edge. Unfortunately it looks like it won't be very cheap to repair properly but I think that this should be covered by Skoda even if the cars warranty has expired, it's clearly broken down to poor design. Does anyone agree or is this really just wear and tear?
  10. Thanks for the information on how to change the fuel filter. I have now done it following the steps above and was very easy. Thanks again, Mark
  11. Does anyone know if there is a replaceable fuel filter in a 2009 Superb II (TDI CR 170 4x4)? If so, could anyone tell me where it is and how to change it please? Thanks, Mark
  12. Thanks for the info! I have just checked my log book and it says "QG1" so should be ok. I have managed to get the variable service display in the maxi dot now though which says miles to service "---" days to service "---". I have done a weeks worth of driving now and one long journey which makes about 500miles in total but it still shows "---", how many mile do I need to do before it can calculate it? Thanks, Mark
  13. Just got a bit further, I found out that I need to set the ESI Oil Quality to "Good Oil Quality" however it only let's me do this if I set "Status ESI or SID" to "Off". If its on and I set the Oil Quality to "Good Oil Quality" it just sets itself back to "Poor Oil Quality". Obviously if I set the Status to off I can't see the service interval menu on the MaxiDot though. Any ideas? Thanks, Mark
  14. Hi, I've just had a service done on my Skoda SuperbII. I was previously on Fixed service intervals (every 10,000 miles) however I asked them to switch over to variable which they did the variable service but if I look in the Service info in the MaxiDot it says service due in 10,000 miles so they must have not switched it over in the MaxiDot. My question is, could anyone please tell me how to switch over using VCDS? I have access to VCDS however I can't figure out how to do it. I found something to enable ESI but that made no difference. Also I tried the ESI reset but no luck. Thanks Mark
  15. It's currently done 35090 miles. I have decided to clear them for now and see what comes back. Thanks Mark
