  1. We've had a breadmaker for about 20 years from memory (maybe even longer) and have hardly bought 'shop' bread since we got one... They are great things once you get used to them and sort a recipe that works with your machine (I've found the recipes in the manuals that come with them usually aren't the best - needing less yeast, less salt and more water. As @SteveTheElder says the biggest problem is the bread is too nice and you end up eating far too much of it!
  2. Ah... Apologies I misread that and thought it was PFI of the whole hospital site... I wasn't aware some in Scotland had just PFI car parks.
  3. That specifically refers to PFI hospitals - whilst they may be in a different situation to those I was talking about, the info I provided above regarding the usual regime still stands.
  4. Bear in mind also that, as far as I am aware, the haldex system doesn't flag any dash errors, so the first thing you know about it not working as, as you've found, when it doesn't work. This is a really useful site generally and this page especially in terms of fault finding: VW Audi Generation 5 Haldex Fault Finding Repair Guide – Haldex Parts and ECU Repairs by Auto Fault Finder Ltd (haldexrepairs.co.uk)
  5. Yep - that's not working! The older systems did require a small amount of wheelspin before the rears would kick in but the newer ones are pre-engaged a small %age and predictive so shoudl be kicking in fine. The first thing to check would be the haldex pump / filter / oil etc.
  6. I think people talking about dropping the headlining and removing sill covers are talking rubbish - the cables are generally that thin that those items don' need to be removed and they can usually simply be tucked under them neatly without interfering with anything else. I've just done added a rear light under the roller blind for the boot in our Kodiaq and had no issues feeding the wires through and under various trim to get to where I needed to be. Granted that's not to the front of the car but I've done that before to and from various points including the dashboard / centre console to the boot area on other vehicles and not had an issue.
  7. The clips aren't too short looking at those pictures - the hose just isn't in all the way and fully home, thus preventing the clip from seating properly. In my experience from our previous Mk2 TDi 4x4 doing a similar job (turbo to intercooler hose) they can be a bugger to fit and do take a fair bit of fiddling and wriggling and forcing to get the hose to seat properly - I'd therefore be tempted to take the hose off and try again (I know it took me a few goes to get mine on fully).
  8. Interestingly I’ve just been involved in a review of hospital parking systems and that is generally not the case... Most hospitals try to do it themselves in-house and set rates and fines etc. so the money is kept within the NHS but aren’t working to industry standards which creates a lot of problems for them in terms of car park management, admin, recovery of fines etc., so they don’t always turn a profit and often, because the parking regime isn’t self-funding, they have to subsidise the regime with funds intended for patient care. In order to resolve these issues the best policy for them is to have British Parking Association Approved Operator Scheme accreditation, meaning signage and process etc. all needs to be to a minimum standard and they have to follow specific guidance. Once they have that accreditation it resolves most of the aforementioned issues and they can either act as an operator themselves, with all associated costs of signage, managing, debt recovery and appeals etc., and any debt recovery payments kept by the Trust, or they can employ a third party to manage the parking and debt recovery. If the latter then the NHS Trust can self-ticket and the Third Party are then responsible for debt recovery and all costs associated with that (including appeals etc.) with a rebate being paid to the Trust once recovered. Alternatively the third party can do it all, including the ticketing, but with a similar rebate arrangement. So there is generally no up-front payment to the Trust.
  9. Similar here in Sheffield - my youngest had been in at age 11 for surgery under a general anaesthetic to have a VNS to be fitted (think pacemaker for her brain) and I'd been there all day and stressed... came out to find the payment machine buggered and the only one working would only take cash, as the card reader was knackered... No one at the hospital reception etc. could help and the shop across the road refused to give change.
  10. If it's glazed patches, which you should be able to spot after taking the wheel off, I've had that in the past and have been able to clear it by sanding them slightly with some rough wet and dry on a sanding block. Out of gear you can put a wheel stud back in and spin the disk using the wheel brace while holding the sanding block against the disc.
  11. What are your tyre treads like on the four wheels and have you checked for abs sensor faults?
  12. Nobody is particularly saying that central dashes are new but central dashes with everything on them and controlled by touch are and that's what people are saying are the devil incarnate...
  13. Same the world over... They get promoted to the point of incompetence then move on before the trail of destruction they leave behind gets noticed... Whilst the rest of the good ones who know what they are doing get overlooked and kept out of senior positions in case they identify the incompetence of the people above them. Cynical.. me??? Hell yes!!!
  14. Yes I know that hence my question as that is exactly the problem I had. Battery appeared ok but wasn't when actually put to use trying to turn the engine over...
  15. Did the RAC manage actually try a new battery on it or just test it as the issues sounds very much like those I had years ago when my battery gave up. Drove fine, parked up, locked car all ok. Came back, unlocked and tried to start but nothing other than a dashboard full of warning lights and faults. A new battery sorted it.
