  1. I think the warranty went south when the engine was taken out, the suspension removed, the ... Well you get the idea. I think that you'd even have a hard time to claim under the paintwork warranty )))
  2. Johann, Car4leasing.co.uk have these (scout) for £120 per month inc vat. I suspect with a few options and excess mileage (this price is for only 5,000 miles p.a.) this would still be below £150 per month inc vat. Now starts to make sense (possibly).
  3. Hi, I'm getting £8,000 which would've been £8,500 but, as I said, my wife had scraped a couple of wheels and both front corners whilst parking. Couple of parking dings too. I paid about £14,500 so about £2,500 depreciation per year. The spec on the mini is pretty good. Auto Chili pack Media pack Heated seats Heated screen Tinted windows Chrome bits n bobs
  4. Hi all, It's finally come the time to trade in my wife's 2.5 year old VRS. We're getting a reasonable price for it in part ex for a Mini Cooper 5 door which she'll get in a months' time. It's been an entirely average ownership experience. A few quick points some may find interesting. Pros: Cheap. Reliable (in my case) 1 litre of oil in 23,000 miles. DSG gearbox Cons: Rattles (mostly sorted) Terrible satnav Worse dealer (Westover Poole) My wife's propensity to find kerbs (not Skoda specific unfortunately) I'll still hang around - sorry - I like this forum. I'm a member of others and this is by far the most active brand forum, though the Audi A6 one is great too. I particularly love the old man in the Yeti forum who occasionally barks, "block" whenever something doesn't agree with his viewpoint :-)
  5. Bang on cue Autocar (same publisher as Whatcar) has the Fabia coming second to the Hyundai i20 in a group test. Though they do call it a Favia!?! But yeah, you trust the journalists.
  6. The best new car on sale in 2015! Allow me to let that sink in. Also, I don't think that the new fabia even uses the same platform as the new polo does it? I thought I'd read that it was a revised version of the one the mk2 uses. If this makes it better then it would surely be used in the polo or A1. Give it 6 months and it'll be coming third in group tests with a Peugeot and the latest 'sensational' Hyundai. Stopped buying this mag long ago.
  7. My wife's has done 20,000 miles, is completely standard and hasn't/doesn't use oil. It's a CAVE engined one. Sept 2012. Here's hoping that isn't a kiss of death
  8. I think the lease deals make up most of the 'sales' at the SQ5 price point. The cheapest I found for a 2 year lease is £7,424 p.a. Like for like the cheapest 170ps L&K dsg I found is £4,092 p.a. Seems about right for me. 2 year, 10,000 miles, inc vat Speaking of Golf R earlier in the thread. A dsg one of those can be had for £4,489 p.a. That has to be less than the depreciation on one of these?
  9. +1. I have them on the wife's car. Think I paid £18 off eBay. Well worth it.
  10. You can get a ST-3 with metallic (8,000 miles p.a.) for £208 per month for 24 months. £1,040 up front. £6,032 total cost for 24 months. £3k p.a. is less than the depreciation on a vrs I would suggest. Richard, I assume you wouldn't need to add (m)any options to the ST-3 version to be v. happy with it? If my wife could drive 'stick' the vrs would be up for sale today.
  11. Used to have an apartment in Moray Place. In the wet you can have all 4 wheels spinning at about 15 miles per hour if you aren't careful. Nip along there next time it rains. If you spin off can you make sure you take one of the parking nazis with you? :-)
  12. And another question please... If I get a aftermarket heated seat cover is there anyway to alter the 12v cigarette socket between the seats so it turns off with the ignition?
  13. Hi all, Done a quick search and sure no one's asked this before. Can I retrofit a heated driver's seat to my wife's car? Does anyone know if there are companies that could do it? Thanks in advance.
  14. Countryman? Good petrol auto in the range, no?
