  1. Hi All, I have an annoying rattle coming from the passenger side footwell and am wanting to remove the internal trim panel from the footwell / center console area. The rattle seams to be coming from near the heater controls so I want to take a look in this area. I have removed a single torx screw from down near where your feet are and cant see any other visible securing's however it is obvious there is at least one clip on the inside that I need to remove. Any more pulling and tugging will either damage or break the trim panel as they are very flimsy from cardboard covered with trim material. If anyone has removed this panel before any help or guidance would be appreciated . Regards , Sugar.
  2. Car is 1.6 tdi cr diesel Octavia It has always had a problem with intermittent idle running at 1000 as against the normal 800. Sometimes the engine will quite simply not tick over at 800,it does not matter how far you drive, how fast, the engine can be hot or cold, you can turn it off then back on, turn all the electrical devices off, it will simply not tickover at a normal 800. I do not believe it is trying to regen. I have been in the car when this happens the tickover is a bit lumpy the fans come on and the engine smells got on the outside. I have recently driven nearby 150 miles non stop on a quiet motorway only to pull up for fuel to find it ticking over at 1000. My main dealer has checked it over and can't find anything wrong atall Any ideas, is yours the same? Thanks.
  3. Hi guys Thanks for the replies so far. My total excess is 400 so I am looking at fighting for 200. To be honest I can live without the 200 I will loose it is just the way the insurance companies seem to have simply said " we will only offer 50 percent" Next time I will call 999 and get all the bells and whistles out. But that does not feel right either especially if no one is injured. My NCD is protected but the letter from my insurer states "your NCD would remain affected" need to check this out. I will also reduce my excess which was my mistake in the first place when I took out the policy Regards Sugar
  4. Hi guys , looking for some advice please. Had the car bumped back in April by a French HGV driver on a roundabout complex on my way home from work. We sorted out all the paper work at the scene and I took photos of every document etc etc No witnesses, no police, no injuries. My vehicle was repaired promptly with myself having to pay my excess. My insurer informs me they have traced the French vehicle and it's UK insurer and that there was correct insurance cover on the HGV and it's driver at the time of the incident. However my insurer now informs me that the other insurance company is only willing to pay 50 percent of my excess . My insurer has told me that in their experiance this is the best outcome i could hope for and they recommend I accept. I genuinely believe I am not responsible for the incident, the other insurance company have simply said their driver was in the correct lane which I can clearly demonstrate he was not . The fact there were no witnesses or police involvement does not help my case they say. Any advice on how to proceed further would be appreciated. Regards Sugar
  5. My water pump paled in a month ago.it was replaced together with the cam belt under the 3 year warrenty that came with the vehicle when I bought it.i asked about the worked been gaurd teed but was informed that we do not give warrenty on top of warrenty. Work was done by a skoda main dealer, first I gave heard about them giving a 2 year warrenty on this kind of work
  6. I agree with the above poster. I do regularly do longmotorway trips of150 miles plus early on a weekend. Will just set the cruise at 80 and with little traffic can Aintain the speed for around 90 percent of my journey. My maxidot will show an average mpg of between 47 and 49 mpg, never had above 50 at this speed with long continuos spells of motoring, Have had the car and have completed 20 k miles.tank to tank average is running at 52mpg
  7. 1.6cr estate Overall I think this is the poorest performing diesel of them all. I have driven a 10 plate for the last 20000 miles. It now has 35 k on and over my 20 k I have a tank to tank average of only 52 mpg. Considering how I drive and the journies I make it is a little diss appointing. The daily commute is 10 miles, 7 of which is on the motorway at a sedate 60. Admitadly in winter it has only just got warm by the time I get there. I can drive at a cruise controlled 60 on the motorway for several hundred miles very early on a weekend morning and still only see low to mid 50s. The same trip at a cruise controlled 80 will return around 45 to 47. Totally beyond me how similiar posters can get the mpg returns with the same car and engine, can you show me how. I am not a trained driver eg police or advanced, but do take pride in being smooth and gentle. Appears to me that the 2.0 cr is only a couple of mpg behind but with more fun under the right foot if you need it. I think the 1.6 is just a touch too small to be as ecomical as it should or could be considering the size and weight of the octy estate
