I spoke to the dealers about doing this but buying the OEM parts.

I left quickly from the dealers when I was quoted around £400 for all the strips the entire car!!

Pics would be good SJFISHER67!?!?!?

Re: chrome trim?

finished polishing your new wheels, then?!?!
sfisher67, pics and a link to the type of trim he used would be great, imagine it'd look dreadful if done badly and so want to make it as painless as possible!

Please accept my sincerest apologies for not getting these sorted out sooner, the pics are not great but it gives you an idea.

As for where the chrome trim came from, my father said it came from Halfrauds and he stuck it in the groove on the black plastic, looks better in real life (and the roll cost £15 i think)

Re: chrome trim?

Not bad, probably looks a lot better in the flesh.

It's not as in your face as the OEM Elegance trim and it's obviously a lot smaller in width.

How did he adhere the chrome strip then? Glues or does it come with a sticky back adhesive?

Re: chrome trim?

will get some up shortly. liking the chrome strip around the lower vents there: the stuff I got wouldn't stick to there i don't think - will have a look in halfrauds. fancy doing the middle grille for an audi-look...

Re: chrome trim?

done: couple of pics to show what it looks like. think i'll stop now with the chrome: tempting to do a couple of horizontal stripes on the vents either side of lower grille, but think it'll look a bit much...

Re: chrome trim?

I always use Photobucket for my pics, simple and easy.

That looks pretty good mate. Is it staying on alright, I mean is it flush to the rest of the strip and it looks like your strip is wider than the other chrome strip effort? Is that right?

I can't quite make it out but have you put any around that central lower grille?

Re: chrome trim?

appears to be staying on fine: once you've put it on, heat it with a hairdryer and push and it melts into place. it's 7mm wide, and it's placed just above the very thin crease in the black plastic. just done around the center grille as well (doesn't show up too well on photo above)...a little like the audi lower grilles on A4s.

i'm off to jabba with it on friday <rubs hands>

I thought you had done the lower grille, looks good mate.

The question is what about the strips around the edge of the windows? The Elegance has that, LOL!!

Re: chrome trim?

yup, center lower grille, if you see what i mean. black plastic bit beneath the main grille!
bit wary of overchroming, there's some minging rice boy BMWs round this way that started off with a couple of strips and have now done rear lights, all around all the doors etc etc. ugh...

Have you seen the Milotec chrome trim for the rearlamps on the Superb:

http://www.milotec.de/english/

(Look under headlamp and tailamp)

IMO the Milotec parts don't look too clever? What do you think?

Price is a little high mate but if you can come up with your own version, might look better in the flesh?

More pics to follow then, LOL!!

Re: chrome trim?

had a look at this last night: not sure it really works, to be honest. you could do it in ten minutes with some of the 7mm sticky trim, but think it's a bit much.
what does look nice is a 30mm wide strip along the bottom lip of the boot, again like the audis...not that anyone ever sees my boot for long now jabba have had a go at the engine!

I think that your right, it is a little bit too much.

So does that mean you will leave the chrome strip on the boot now you have been Jabba'd!?!?!?

Seems like a lot of new motors have chrome all over them, are we becoming more like the American's?

have added a 30mm wide chrome strip that runs along the lower edge of the bootlid since the pics were taken - looks pretty smart...
