Hi forum

I'm posting this little DIY, because I'd think that can be useful

You must do 3 simple steps:

1: Lightly remove the right panel of the trunk (like if you would change a lamp)

Then you must see the "bowden wire" (inside the red circle in the image)

2: take the bowden an pull to the rear of the car54278452ke7.jpg

3: replace the bowden to its original position

4: replace the trunk panel to its original position

Some greetings from Forofabia.com (the spanish fabia forum)

Sorry for my english

Mine "popped open" when left on an airport carpark. No fuel gone though.

It's an estate, taking off the trim panel in the boot, as for a tail light, I can see the cable but the fuel "door" is not accesible from the inside. I'm going to try taking off the whole side trim panel with a screwdriver.

Guess how much the Haynes has got on this. Nowt.

Thanks Mate,

The Skoda dealer wanted to charge me £58 quid plus VAT to fix mm fuel filler flap which wouldn't close. After seeing your post, it took me about a minute and a half to pop the connecter back into its hole. Job done and fuel filler closing nicely now. What a rip fo the dealers are!! They must have known that this was all it would take. So much for after sales service.

Thanks again.

Very helpful post, I had the same problem, now fixed!

It is worth checking that the plastic catch attached to the cable is:

a) repositioned the right way to catch the flap

b pushed far enough back in to catch the flap

once in place I used some strong tape the hold the spring loaded catch in place.

Seems to work fine.

This has foxed three garages including a dealer. Guess they couldn't be bothered.

Thanks

Enriquez - this is great. Your clear photos are still working. Second time our fuel cap wouldn't shut but this time it didn't cost me for a new petrol cap! Very clear directions.

muchisimas gracias - fue muy claro y muy facil de arreglar

Hello I was wondering if you had any luck with taking off the whole inside panel. I have an estate and I have the same problem with the fuel filler door. If anyone can help me with tips I would be very grateful

Thanks

Hello.

A Bump from me. The problem is happening to me on my estate too. Haven't tried taking the side panels off, but has anyone had any luck fixing the problem on an estate?

Cheers.

Found this on the site, so maybe it can help Frugalforager.

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/79280-help-with-fuel-filler-flap-on-estate/

However, I removed the whole thing, and there isn't a spring and I couldn't for the life of me work out how it was supposed to work, as all I could see was the ball at the end of the metal wire. And the Return, both completely separate.

Any help would be appreciated :)
