Used these for a major service last year. Timing belt change, water pump etc etc on my 2.5TDI superb. Price was resonable.

When I got the car back it seemd fine, the next morning it was misfiring. Timing had been done wrong. To be fair to them though they took my car straight back in and re-provided me with a courtesy car until the problem had been sorted. Cars been running sweet since then.

Couple of weeks ago I took my car here for a free MOT (had it acrued from major service). Got a courtesy car for free which is great. My car failed as I had the spare wheel on (was different size from rest of the wheels). So was allowed a free re-test within 10 days. Rang back when I sorted wheel but they had no appointments within the10 day period, but they agreed to do a full retest free of charge as it was not my fault the books were full for MOT's. Only gripe was on taking car back for 2nd MOT I had booked a courtesy car again, which turned out to be unavailable on the day. They did however drive me to work and pushed my MOT through quickly by a time I needed the car back.

So all in all, guess im a happy shopper, as customer service has been great despite a couple of mishaps

I had my wifes Polo in for a 3 year service and Mot, all for under £100 at Pulmans a couple of weeks ago..

Staff are really helpful and they even have a nice cafe in the showroom (with free drinks!).

I would recommend giving them a ring for service prices if you live in the north east.

Very good service department, not sure about sales as they don't sell Skoda's!

I am thoroughly thrilled when the Yeti finally come back spot on, I have had steering issues since it was new and after 5 visits to my old dealer in Bristol, the steering wheel continue to lean on the left, now after 1 visit to Pulman, it was sorted. They also fixed the creaks and cracks from the centre console, gave it a wash and I got a cuppa!

They are really merticulous, will definitely use them again, staff are friendly and helpful!

Just had my 09 reg octy vRS 2.0 c/rail into Pulmans Durham for its 28k service (2nd one from new) and must say the staff were spot on , went in on wednesday evening at 5pm to see how quik i could get my car in & was told they could do it the following day at 12.30

Dropped the car off today at agreed time , gave me a lift down to work then rang me up a couple of hours later to tell me it was all done and even drooped the car off at my workplace for me

Not bad price for 28k longlife service £171, also got them to do the brake fluid as car will be 2yrs in July and replace my pollen filter so total bill came to £231, not bad i thought , staff really helpfull & polite (service desk girls  ) DING DONG

And due to the sticky handbrake problem , they have ordered me a new part under warranty , definatly use them again

Again had work done at Pulman, can't fault them, price was right (1/2 off labour for Skoda). I had my wheel arches fitted by them, they held the car until the glue was totally dry, which is good, so not in a hurry to get me out the door.

Merticulous service as well, I notice some faint scratches after the work is done, they promptly organise a machine polish on the marks and also did other scratches that were dotted around the car as a compenastion, really can't fault them.

They always provide courtesy car with insurance cover. Service department is excellent, good service and great update.

Oh, unlike other dealers I have phoned, they would give me my radio code for free!!

Just used Pulman for first service (15k miles) on vRS 2.0TSI.

Absolutely faultless experience, car serviced while I waited.

Wi-Fi service in the on site cafe meant I could get work done as though in the office. Complimenary coffee as well, and I was able to watch the service going on through the window of the showroom.

All staff very helpful. Nothing was a problem. Very attentive to the (slight) concerns I raised about the car on handing it in, and rear boot badge replaced under warranty (old one had been going opaque).

First time I've spent time in the dealership - previously used their "pick up and drop off" facility for my wife's Seat.

Highly recommended.

Oh, and £94 for the vRS service.

:)

A very poor experience with PULMAN VW/Skoda Durham recently :-

I called to ask for a quote to have a factory ECU reflash of my Mark 1 Octavia VRS. I was greeted by a helpful lady who promised to put me onto the "mapping specialist" to give a quote. I was later called by someone else who assured me they could flash my ECU back to standard, reverting to the normal map (I was wanting this work done to clear off a really bad remap done by Elite Remaps), and that he'd done one that same day but as part of another job/issue. He explained that he needed to check with the Service Manager on pricing. I then seperately found out that a full ECU reflash takes around 45 mins but that dealers normally charge 1.5 hours labour rate for the work.

I was called back further by the original lady, who left a message on my voicemail saying "just to let you know this is something we can't do. Thanks bye". I called back and asked to be put through to servicing and by a stroke of luck I got straight through to the guy I'd spoken with earlier who assured me it was a straightforward job (but that I would need proof of ID and of ownership of the car). He stuttered and ummed and ahh'd before saying that unfortunately the Service Manager would not take on the job "because it's too small to be commercially worth it". He also suggested that the Service Manager 'had a bee in his bonnet about remapping cars' and that this may be why he was refusing the job.

I have owned VAG cars in one form or another for 15 years and have always used Pulman - what a great way to be treated and left high and dry.

Thanks for nothing Pulman Durham

Had a good experience at Pulman Skoda/VW yesterday. Took the car in for the radio code to be sorted (DX Navigation - see thread in Superb 1 forum) and they took it in, plugged it in, washed it, vacuumed it, and gave it back to me with a working system, new code, and a free cuppa.

Considering the supplying dealer was paying for it and they were basically the customer, I was well chuffed to find out they'd even cleaned it!

after reading the reviews on here for local dealers, i decided i would not entertain the local ones with bad reviews. i decided to use pulman in durham, very happy with the service recieved after a few emails they ended up the cheapest as well, double bonus!!!! i had them change the timing belt kit as well as water pump and serpentine belt with anti freeze all in for £379!! i thought a good price??? great service apart from my recently fitted expansion bottle coming back scratched to bits! recommended and very happy. although the courtesy car was £1000 excess reduced to £250 for £10 per day then 25 pence per mile for fuel? bit to much in my opinion taxis were cheaper...........

I've used Pulman for 4 years now for all my servicing, parts & MOT's. The premises are superb and all the staff friendly and knowledgeable. They always collect my car from home and deliver it back home, washed and vacuumed. The prices might be high compared to an independent, but I know everything is going to be done properly, including greasing hinges & bonnet release. I had my car there today to have the aircon checked after it appeared to be not working as it should. They had the car 4 hours, checked the aircon, said it was working normally and I wasn't charged for the job. They even offered to vac and wash it - I turned that down as I'd just spent a day polishing it last week. My wife and I even got a free cuppa when we went to collect the car.

A great company and the first garage that I've never had to complain about for anything. A pity they don't sell Skodas as well.

Don't let them wash your car, they use a small automated roller-type car wash which judging by the state of my car when I collected it isn't particularly effective.

And yes, they now sell new and used Skoda's. They currently have a small section of the car park assigned to used Skoda's whilst an all new purpose built showroom on the same site is completed next year.

They told me that brand new showroom / service place is to be built on waste land between BMW showroom and SoccerArena, not far from A1. I hope thats correct as it's only 10 mins walk from our place.

Not good Pulman's, just not good at all.

Needing two new tailgate gas struts, I phoned Pulman's as I always get any work done there & also parts. They quoted me £45 per strut & I asked if that included fitting. It didn't, fitting was going to be another £50, so I asked advice from folk on these forums. Taking good advice, I bought struts online for £39.98 for the pair and did the fitting myself in under 5 minutes, saving myself £100. I can't believe the cheek of Pulman's to attempt to charge £50 for a 5 minute job. When I bought new front wiper blades a couple of years ago they offered to fit them for me free of charge - and that took no less time than changing the tailgate struts.

I'm going to be wary of anything to do with them in future - greedy people.

Had the engine management light come on, then went off, on my MkII Superb.

Took it in, they told me no faults were stored, however, if it comes back on bring it straight in, no appointment needed.

Came on a few days later on the way into work, drove straight to Pulman. Access to free wi-fi and a complimentary bacon sandwich and a cup of tea. Within an hour they'd confirmed the fault (EGR valve), sorted a hire car to be delivered to my place of work later that day, ordered the parts, booked it in as the first job the following day and dropped me off me at work. The next day they delivered the car to work for me. Hire car collected shortly after.

All work was done for free (Skoda Trust Building Measure), on a 7 year old, 145,000 mile car, well out of manufacturers warranty.

They literally couldn't have done more. Washed and hoovered too.

A big thumbs up to Pulman, in particular Emma on reception.
