If you don't have a MIL ligtht on, clear code and see if it returns. If ABS or MIL light on, comms error with ABS controller.

I cleared all, but the fault returns.

In ABS controler is no fault.

and also i reset MIL with SRI reset.

I realy dont understand why is " missing message from instrument cluster " ???

Any other sugestion ?

Thanks !

I solved the problem.

Almost like that:

step 1

#

Sit in the driver's seat of the Passat and close all the doors.

#

Step 2

Position the trip/odometer button to display the odometer mileage reading, then hold it down with the forefinger on your left hand.

#

Step 3

Turn the ignition key to the "key-on/engine-off" position to turn on all the power options for the Passat without actually starting the engine. At this point, a service indicator light will display (in the form of a wrench).

#

Step 4

Press the minute adjustment button on the clock (or turn the knob clockwise on European manufactured Passats) and release the trip/odometer button.

I realy dont understant why this reset was not done with VCDS "SRI".

So now i understant what was that " missing message from instrument cluster" The missing message was that the MIL reset was not set.

So i hope that this post will help someone other.

Hi guys.

Thread revival. Didn't see the point in starting a new one.

Does anyone know more about this code and the possible problems it may cause?

I've just had a maxidot fitted and noticed this fault doesn't show anymore but it used to with the previous cluster. Car has always run fine but just curious.

Hi Phil

The reason it doesn't show anymore is due to the adaption channel 039 in the cluster

If it set to 0 you will get this fault or if it is set to 1 it won't show it

Ah. I get ya.

So basically the old dash wasn't programmed correctly. I had the error message since I had the car.

Thanks. Was just curious.
