Anyone altered headlamp wash settings for an Octy2

I'm finding the std setup a little annoying, compared with the headlamp wash fitted to my previous xenon-equipped Fabia vRS.

It seems to spray the lights at the exact second the main windscreen wash is activated; the Fabia used to wait 3secs or so before activating the headlamp wash. Sometimes I only want to slightly clean my windscreen, not clean the lights and half the bonnet at the same time ;)

I'm just wondering if anyone has retarded this setting, or otherwise altered it? Pretty certain its possible through VCDS.

Many thanks,

Steve

If you find a solution - let me know.. I'd be interested in some setting that doesn't dump litres of washer fluid all over my car.

Pretty sure there are timing settings within VCDS for this, but just wanted someone to confirm.

With that in mind, if you really really didn't want them there might be the possibility of putting a REALLY high value in there, so they wouldn't activate in *normal* use of the screenwash.

Don't know about the timing

But I'm sure you can change how often it sprays the lights - think its every 5 as standard IIRC

Anyone know where in VAG COM this setting can be found? And also would this (if it is possible) work on a Mk5 Golf?

On mine it only sprays at the same time as the windshield once and on the first time activating this.

After the first time never had come on. To be honest never tried to see how many times had to spray the windshield for the headlight washer come on again.

I had a similar question about a 2010 Seat Leon with a 5K0 BCM installed and I haven't received any feedback yet on it. Please post the 09 module data, or the Auto-Scan here.

Thanks Dana. Here's the 09 info from the Autoscan. Let me know if you need any more info.

It's the timing that's the issue. It only sprays ever 5 or 6th use of the screenwasher.

My issue lies with the first use of the screenwash on a journey. As I mentioned, on the Fabia you could use it for a short space of time, without bringing the headlamp washer into play. Handy if you just need to minimally clear the screen, without drenching half of the bonnet at the same time :)

So I basically want to retard the timing for the headlamp wash, so they only activate after, say, 3 secs of screenwash use.

Cheers,

Steve

Is this thread any use, just that I saw it and it looked interesting but maybe irrelevant anyway

I agree with the channel 4 settings, but I don't know if that will have the results you desire. I think it will only adjust the duration, not the delay of the washer system. I don't see any other settings for the headlight washers.

Thanks for the responses. I think I cracked it this morning and it does involve the settings eluded to above, for 'Headlight Washer Activation Time'.

I'll post some more info and a screenshot when I get home, but it's had the desired effect

Cheers,

Steve

detailed adaptation/coding of new BCMs is done thru uploading ZDC (ZielDatenContainer), only few tools supports this function ... :-)

This may well be true for later, facelift vehicles - but not for mine....

Here we go - altering the timing within Byte 5 has done the trick. See attached.

It was originally set at 200ms, so no wonder it was coming on straight away! Tried a few settings and settled on 1500ms in the end.

Cheers,

Steve

I am trying to solve this issue, every 3rd screen wash the headlamp washers activate, covering the car and everything around it, not to mention wasting so must screen wash!

My 09 info is below, but I don't seem to be able to view the label file so am a bit stuck. Any ideas?

What does Byte 5 detail, for the washer timings? You should at least be able to wind that back, to reduce screenwash usage on the headlamps.

Not sure about where the setting is for when they activate. As mentioned earlier, mine come on with every 5th use of the windscreen wash. Have a look round the long coding for Module 09, see if it's listed there.

I was searching Google for my part number (1K0 937 087 D) and found this forum thread:

http://forums.fourtitude.com/showthread.php?5119415-Headlight-washer-adjustments

Adaption channel 26 was enabled already, and it was set to 4 (so I guess every 4th wash). I have changed it to 99 and this seems to have solved the problem!

Update: today the headlight jets seem to be activating on the 3rd screen wash again. Very confused, more investigation required!

Update2: Seems to like 6 as a value, so ive increased it to 8 to see if that works. Interestingly it will always wash the headlights the first time.

Nick - pre-FL. Thought I'd detailed that at the start of this thread, but only found it mentioned in Post #14. Then spotted that it's not obvious from my profile or sig, so I'll make a change to that now

Cheers,

Steve

No worries mate. Always good when there's a relatively easy solution

Reckon the 1500ms setting is spot on, but obviously can be tweaked as necessary :)

Cheers,

Steve
