Anybody can recommend a honest mechanic or Skoda dealer in London?

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody, as per title, any recommendations? I tried Preston Motors in Forest Gate (Skoda dealer), as I live in Docklands, but see my bad review http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/34676-preston-motors-forest-gate/, realy disappointed with them, twice booked in, twice had to go back, poor quality and they tried to make me have work that was not needed.

I also tried Kwikas Motor Engineers, had brake fluid changed 2 years ago, and this year I changed it myself and by the amount of dirt and unusual formations I realised they didn't bleed the clutch slave cylinder, they bled just the brake callipers. So, anybody can recommend somebody good and honest?

Been going to one of the site sponsors, Unit 18 Unit 18 for the past 3 years. Yes, it's about an hour's drive from where you are, but their service and attention to detail is probably the best I've experienced.

Thanks a lot everybody. Unfortunately Unit 18 is a bit far, 1 h 40 min on Google Map. I will definitely keep in mind the others, they sound great, as I don't ever want to go back to Preston Motors...As their customer you would think that Skoda is not reliable, having to change so many things all the time...

Hi mate

My MK3 vRS is due a service, I'm based in North London & from reading your post, its put me in 2 minds about using a Skoda garage in North London. I have checked out Russell Automotive online & they sound very good, great reviews & seem really knowledgeable, I'm really tempted to use these guys for my service, how do you find their workmanship when working on your car? & do you still use them?

Any info/advise would be helpful, Thanks

hap- i make it an hour, and BATVAN- about 50 miles, but for the little extra distance - it's worth it. I had a clutch done thre a couple of years ago, and whilst Ali's mate was doing mine, I sat back and observed. i'v been driving for approx 50 yers ,and ben in and out of a lot of places in that time ,and done my own a lot of the time, and I was impressed.

Cheers VWD

In the end I went with Russell automotive http://rac-london.co.uk

Booked in for Friday so hopefully will receive a good service ;) but for any reason if I'm not happy, then it looks like I will travel the 50miles to unit 18 in the future. I will update this thread after Friday with the service I received :)

Give me a shout if you need honest car mechanic in wembley area. Fixing my skoda fabia 2001 1.9 sdi  and so far I`m more than happy with: parts price, labout cost and attitude to me.

Just had my service carried out by these guys http://rac-london.co.uk 1st time using them, I waited while my car was being serviced (2-1/2 hours) they used genuine parts, service was prompt, efficient & friendly, nice waiting area, where you can see who's working on your car via the glass windows, very knowledgeable, so from my experience today, I would use them again in the future.

So far so good
