Hey everyone!

Just ordered myself a Fabia Greenline II Estate in Pacific Blue!

Gone for the Maxidot; parking sensors; climate control a/c; sunset glass; floor mats; 3rd rear headrest; protective side-mouldings and curtain airbags.

I know, a fair few options will add to the weight, and reduce the economy, but I'm not too worried.

Estimated delivery is the 30th April (by God, I'm excited :D)

One of my key uses will be sleeping in the back once a week (on private land - so no worry about police fines) - its best not to ask how I tested for this at the dealerships (but it is remarkably comfy!)

My lovely dealership even agreed to give me a full tank of fuel upon delivery :D

I'll let you know when I get it!

She got delivered today!

Certainly hoping for thousands of miles of blissful driving, at a low cost!

The sunset glass against the non-metallic blue looks very smooth in my humble opinion.

I'm also impressed with the parking sensors. They actually show on a display how far away you are from the object, rather than just make a beep!

Thread bump...

Thought I would update you on my Greenline 2 - after its first service and nearly a year on the road!

I haven't been hitting the mileage I first expected - just 9,397 miles.

I've found revving her slightly high (e.g. 3rd gear as opposed to 4th when cruising @ 30mph & 4th as opposed to 5th at 40mph) brings me better consumption.

My mileage consists mostly of motorway driving, and I've consistently stayed around 56mph wherever possible (with the occasional "silly" journey). Between now and the next service, I'll be upping this to 60mph average.

Turning the aircon off has the largest effect I've seen. It's a noticeable difference, and one I'm keen to exploit!

Sleeping in the back is comfortable, so long as you have a duvet/pillow underneath you as well as on top (the pillow underneath takes the "edge" off the folded seats)! Although if you're over 6'2", you might struggle. Not recommended as a "double" bed - sorry ladies!

With hindsight, the maxi-dot is a little wasted on me, although I do like its "integrated" look, and the fact it tells me the song title/artist etc. from the MDI. The sunset glass is a God-send in the mornings, bear in mind I sleep in her.

Cruise control is extremely useful, although I fear my "switch" is already starting to get a little stuck.

One of the aircon vents popped out shortly after I bought her (I'm told the clip broke) - the dealer replaced this for free.

The service cost me £163.78 and included an oil change, visual inspection and wash.

If anyone is interested in my MPG etc. - I'm religiously filling out a fuelly account every time I top up:

http://www.fuelly.com/driver/kellja2001/fabia

To date, all-inclusive, I have spent £927.35 (fuel) + £163.78 (servicing) + £13,293.33 (initial cost) = £14,384.46

Thread bump again...

So this is the 2nd service update - a few months under two years on the road!

I'm still short of my expected mileage - but the gap isn't widening! I'm currently at 18850, with some big trips over Christmas to come.

When I upped the motorway driving to 60mph, there was a noticeable reduction in fuel economy. This frustrated me, so I fairly quickly switched back to 56mph!

I still have the odd "silly" journey though. Particularly when I'm in a rush!

As I'm getting a little bit older, sleeping in the back is becoming less and less tolerable. I'm thinking about buying one of those huge beanbags to take the edge off the seats - but this will 1) reduce available boot space and 2) increase the weight I'm travelling with. I'm sure I'll update you at the 3rd service ;)

The Cruise Control switch wasn't getting stuck - it was me being an eejit and pushing it too far! I have, however had slight water ingress at the top of the driver's door when it's been raining incredibly hard - I'm not too worried about this just yet though, as it was only once, and it was so wet there was about 10cm of water on the road in some places. I did notice some belt squealing on this particularly wet day, but it hasn't happened since - so no dramas!

The service cost me £297.77 and included an oil change, visual inspection, wash, new pollen filter element, all the oil stuff (filterelem, sump plug, cleaner, castrol long-life etc.)

I'm still religiously filling out my MPG details, although the link has changed slightly:

To date, all-inclusive (except insurance!), I have spent £1,802.58 (fuel) + £461.55 (servicing) + £13,293.33 (initial cost) = £15,557.46

May I ask, why do you sleep in your car lol?

With such low fuel costs and no hotel bills he must be a rich man!!!

I spend a lot of time away from home (at least one night every weekend - at various locations). If I paid for hotels all year, I'd be poor as sin. I used to sleep in a tent, but I get less wet in the car and  it doesn't need to be put up/down (just fold the rear seats down) :)

Don't worry, it's all off the public highway!

Do you take the seats out and put the back down ? As this is way more comfy , also plenty room for the ladies :)

Also only 9 posts in nearly 2 years ? Where have you been mars ?

I fold the rear seats down fully, including pulling the bit you sit on up (so it's pretty much flat) - I don't think you can actually "take the seats out" unless there's something I've missed! Happy to take a photo of my temporary bedroom if you really want ;)

Oddly enough, my (now ex) girlfriend did sleep in there once with me, she said it was "tolerable" but given I'm 6ft 2in, I like to lay diagonally - with her there, it wasn't possible. I'm not sure how revealing the word "ex" is here ;)

10 posts in 2 years (yay!) - I prefer to watch more than contribute :p

You can take the seat out , where you arse sits just push the 2 wires underneath and the seat will come away , gives you a couple inches

56 mph on the motorway...

So you're one of those people that truckers like so much, trying to overtake you at 56.1 mph for about 15 miles...then we get stuck behind them.

If a truck is "particularly" struggling (mostly up hills) I'll give it a helping hand by backing off, but yes. I am "one of them". Most (not all) of my driving is done between 4am and 9am on Saturday, and 8pm and 1am on Sunday/Monday - so if I'm genuinely causing you to move all the way out, 3 full lanes, I can only apologise!

Yep - I do this!

But really?56mph on the motorway? Haven't you got somewhere to be? Sometime before Christmas?

I assume you do it, because you're not in a rush and you've established that driving at 56mph saves you a bundle in fuel bills.

I on the other hand would go bonkers!

Let's be honest 56 mph in a greenline is pretty much maxed out. I doubt it has much more to give a those kind of speeds lol

56mph? Thatd drive me insane. 70mph is slow enough, i tolerate it because the cars happy as larry at that, but on the bike i like to be cruising at 80-90mph. I like to think it keeps you more allert and its safer because your not hindering around the same car for so long.

Yet another thread-bump!

3rd service update - I'm now up to just over 2 and a half years on the road.

30028 miles, so I'm consistently just over 10k per year - which I don't  imagine will fluctuate significantly.

I've been driving slightly quicker (now averaging about 65 on the motorway - mostly between 56 and 70) and my fuel economy has dropped, but I'm prepared to tolerate it - I suspect this is helped because I've been super-conscious about the weight (i.e. packing less, taking the spare headrests out, turning the aircon off etc. etc.)

After the 2nd service, I bought a 6' beanbag - which is v.comfortable to sleep on in the back - but at about 1ft thick, I do sleep "above" the window-line so I remain grateful for the tinted glass! I also now own an inflatable tent (http://heimplanet.com/shop/en/the-cave.html) that I take with me on longer trips, just because being in the back of the car for more than a couple of days is not great. Weight-wise neither is too heavy, but the beanbag makes it impossible to have 5 people and luggage (you need at least one seat folded to have it in).

No repeated problems with the cruise control (my fault) or squealing belt (water's fault) - I have had a v.slow puncture caused by a nail - but that can happen to any car.

Latest service was £241.40 including VAT. Featured various things (pollen filter, sump plug, oil change, vacuum etc.), including the puncture repair. It didn't feel like great value from the service. But I suppose these aren't meant to achieve that much, and I'm sure I'll hate the cost when I have to do the timing belt etc.!

Still religiously filling out my MPG details:

https://www.fuelly.com/driver/kellja2001/fabia-greenline

To date, all-inclusive (except insurance!), I have spent £3,036.66 (fuel) + £702.95 (servicing) + £13,293.33 (initial cost) = £17,032.94
