what spec is there to look out for when buying oil on my vrs se (07 plate) done 4k in twelve months so not a big commuter

if you get vw 504/507 you cant go wrong (longlife) Mobile 1 esp for example.

You can use any of the oils in the first link, all of which are spec VW 505.01 approved. Alternatively, any of the later (and more expensive) VW 504.00/507.00 oils in the second link are also suitable.

tesco and asda both do their own brand oil that meets VW specifications
